This beautiful 1968 AMC Javelin has great history and was lightly restored to enjoy.  This car has won several awards from 2001-2017 such as 1st place, class winner, Museums choice, Standard of Mopar Excellence and Owners Association Award.  It also has been awarded two prestigious AMO awards including the Junior Gold award - National Concours Winner 2017 and Senior Division award.  It scored an 80 for the SME award at Chrysler of Carlisle.  It was featured on a catalog in 2010.   All of the awards along with some documentation of awards, car show plaques and calendar are included.  The AMC Javelin is an American front-engine, real wheel drive, two-door hard top automobile manufactured and marketed by American Motors Corporation (AMC) across two generations, 1968-1970 and 1971-1974.  Styled by Dick Teague, the Javelin was available in different trim and engine levels.  It quickly became competition for Ford, Chevrolet and Chrysler.  As the VIN number indicates this car was built as a 1968 AMC Javelin 2-door hardtop with a 290 2v V8 and 3-speed auto column.  As the original owner identification card documents this car was sold to John Koch from Austin, TX on March 20th, 1969.  This owner identification card is included.  The car spent many years in Texas and made its way to Pennsylvania where it spent the last 30 years with its last owner.  The car was lightly restored about 20 years ago.  The car still shows very well which is evident with the AMO Junior Gold award in 2017.  The engine compartment and undercarriage was refreshed in June of 2019.   The car retains most of the original sheet metal.   The body is straight and it has nice gaps throughout.  A Mark Donohue rear spoiler was added during the restoration.  As the original door tag indicates the car was originally silver.  During the restoration it was painted Stardust which is an AMC factory color.  Stardust is a beautiful color that is similar to silver with a hint blue.  To complement the color “Go Package” black stripes were added.  The front and rear bumper were re-chromed and look amazing. Everything on the exterior is still in nice condition such as the glass, window trim, wipers, door handles, lower moldings and lights.  The car sits on 14” American Motor wheels that have black centers with a polished trim ring.  The wheels are wrapped with Firestone E70-14 redline tires.  The black interior is mostly original throughout and in very good condition considering the age.  The headliner was replaced and the carpeting was dyed. The car is equipped with power steering and air conditioning which both work great.  Everything else in the interior is in working order with exception of the radio sound.  The trunk compartment was refinished and is home to the matching spare.  The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout with many correct features.  It’s powered by the 290 2v V8 that was rated at 225HP from the factory.  This engine has the correct 290 casting and is believed to be original to this car.  The engine runs great and breathes through a dual exhaust system that sounds really nice.  The engine coupled to a 3-speed column shift automatic.  The undercarriage is very clean and presentable.  All of the suspension, braking system and miscellaneous items has been gone through during the restoration process.  The owner’s manual, multiple magazines and multiple books are included.  This car has recently been serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included.
