1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL.
3 On the Tree
6.4 Litre V8
Original “Born With”” Engine
Ford websites put total production at 9,849 Vehicles .
Only 10% were 3 On the Tree,Manual transmissions.
Doing the math tells us only 984 of these engines were ever produced......
How many of these survived? This is a RARE CAR.
When first purchased this car I was somewhat disappointed with it’s
performance. After consulting with an expert mechanic who restored classic cars,I found out why.
The engine needed to be replaced or completely overhauled.I was faced with a dilemma.
A crate engine would be “Brand New” and cost less than a complete overhaul. But where are you going to find a
390-3 On the Tree,I had to restore it to it’s glory days.
3 months later and 5 grand spent,I was very happy I saved it.
Being I was in the spending mood I decided to re-do all the seats, and this was the only liberty I took to change from being completely original. The seats are a custom look,Red&White with Galaxie 500 embroidered on the seats, both front and rear.I think it looks great!
Brand new convertible white rag top and new white boot cover.New red carpet thru-out.
Comes with custom car cover too.
This car is meant to be driven everyday.
On scale of 1 to10 this car is not a 10,it is not a 9.It is in my opinion an 8.
The paint is good, but it can be better The chrome is good, but it can be better.
I have looked at several classic car websites and cannot find another original 390 3 On the Tree Convertible...
