1997 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro 30th Anniversary
Starting in 1990, aerodynamic designs returned to the automotive
landscape, replacing the angular shapes that dominated the 1980's.
The Chevrolet Camaro received a welcome redesign that modernized
the brand in 1993 retiring the 11-year-old third generation
Camaro.
For consignment, an example of the technological breakthroughs
brought over into the design of this new generation Camaro. A very
clean Carfax report, and several new parts, bring this car up to a
fresh start for the next owner.
Exterior
Part of the breakthrough difference that distinguish this car from
the previous generation are the use of composite plastic in the
construction of the doors, front fenders, and trunk. Steel remains
only in the rear quarters, and the hood. All panels are covered
with Arctic White, which remains in good condition. Orange wide
racing stripes run up the hood to the roof and then continue on the
rear trunk deck. Interrupting them is a smoked glass "T" top which
is easily removed and can be stored in the rear cargo area. Very
clean white coated 5 spoke wheels are noted on all 4 corners.
Interior
Keeping within the white theme we can see tuck and roll leather
buckets up front and a rear bench. These have the 30th Anniversary
30 with the Camaro Badge embroidered in the headrests of the seats.
The drivers rear seat has some soiling. Contrasting graphite
colored carpet, dash, and console, house the various gauges, and
controls. A white knobbed floor manual 6-speed shifter is seen
within reach of the driver in the center console. This car comes
with power locks, power windows, power mirrors, analog gauges, a
digital odometer in red LED readout form, an AM/FM/Cassette, and
Air Conditioning, all fully functional.
Drivetrain
A powerful 350ci LT-1 Fuel Injected V8 sits rearward in the engine
bay, for more weight balance. Consigner states this car has a new
clutch, serpentine belt with tensioner, battery, tires, brakes, and
a fresh oil and filter change. A T56 6-speed manual transmission is
installed. Also, a Z28 Special Performance package has been added
by the factory.
Undercarriage
Underneath remains very clean, with a structurally sound unibody,
stainless exhaust, power disc brakes, and a 10 bolt 3.42 rear.
Overall a good example of the 30th Anniversary Camaro. Great color
combination, pristine interior, and powerful engine. Original
wIndow stickers, sales brochures, owner's manual, and an indoor car
cover come along for the ride. Let's do 30 doughnuts in the parking
lot to celebrate!!
