This 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix is a proper cool-cruising hardtop with
everything you want - from proper V8 power to Pontiac's iconic

The factory-correct Aquamarine paint has the right 1960s vibe you
want on a car like this. After all, Pontiacs really were entering
their own stratosphere of cool in this era, and it all started with
the design. Stacked headlights stretched to the edges made room for
dual wide grilles to drive home the Wide Track look. In the back,
the full-width panel is pure jet-age cool, and those turn signals
are tall arrows right on the edge. While you can admire the design,
don't forget to marvel at how the big chrome bumpers integrate into
all of it, too. The Grand Prix was Pontiac's way to be both sporty
and formal - basically an executive express. This fast-with-class
attitude was integrated so nicely with the formal hardtop, a crease

The factory-correct blue interior is a great complementing color to
the exterior. The doors, dash, upholstery, and headliner all share
this color for a great uniform appearance. Pontiac made sure these
earned the "grand" part of their name with bucket seats up front
with a comfortable center console in-between. The rear passengers
were comfortable, too, with a fold-down armrest to provide
individual comfort. The wood-like paneling on the console, dash,
and factory two-spoke wheel are all terrific pieces that still
convey a message of premium luxury today. Plus, there's plenty of
brightwork to frame all the gauges, including the extra-wide
speedometer, factory auxiliary gauge trio, and cool Pontiac vacuum
readout mounted prominently on the console. And while this has a
terrific classic atmosphere, there's also an AM/FM/CD stereo
cleanly mounted under the driver's side dash. That way you can have
the best in modern music while cruising in this very vintage
ride.
The engine bay stays faithful to this car's original image right
down to the black air cleaner and turquoise paint on the block. So
it's no surprise this honest presentation is believed to be the
original motor. Fans of the GTO know the Pontiac 389 cubic-inch V8,
and it's a great powerplant to have here, too. There's a bit more
grand touring weight in the Grand Prix compared to the Goats, but
that isn't a problem for this big power, four-barrel carb motor.
Advertised at 306 horsepower, it was able to deliver on the
Pontiac's performance promise. Then you add in great features like,
the three-speed automatic transmission, power brakes, power
