Vehicle Description
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air - Hardtop
If you like the tri five style the way it was originally then this
is a car you need to check out. Custom hot rodded classics are cool
but when one was restored to the original style it sure gets a lot
of attention. This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop is one of those
original style cars that really shows off the type of unique classy
designs that went into these cars. It was fully body off restored
with every component gone through and either repaired or replaced
with new. The body is in great condition and the floors in the
front were replaced. The car has 66,060 miles on the odometer with
only 500 of those begin after the restoration. This is just enough
to break it in and work out the kinks while still maintaining the
condition of a fresh restoration. The beautiful Matador Red 2 stage
paint has a very clean finish and is the perfect combo for the
white on those vintage fins. The chrome/stainless work is extremely
well done and boy does this car have a lot of it. All of this was
replaced with new condition with the rebuild. The glass is also all
new throughout and has a slight black tint for those sunny days.
The car has a great stance and rides on a set of Red steel wheels
with original style hubcaps.
Powering up this classic is a completely rebuilt 283 V8 motor that
runs very well. It was bored 40 over and fitted with a mild cam.
Topping it off is a 4 barrel Edlebrock 650 cfm carburetor that is
tuned in for a nice smooth idle. New headers were added as was an
all new exhaust system. The chrome work under the hood has been
kept to a minimum to maintain a vintage look. The only major
exception is the chrome circle air cleaner. Backing up this motor
is a 700R4 transmission that sends power back to the original rear
end with 3:05 gears. The car rolls down the road very smoothly
which is in part to the completely rebuilt front suspension and all
new body bushings. A power steering system was added along with the
new 600 Borgeson steering box. The electrical system on the car is
also all top notch with the brand new wiring harness. The car does
have power steering and the front brakes have been converted to
disc.
Moving on to the interior you will see the restoration was just as
well done. The dash and marbled style upholstery work has that
original look that will transport you back to the 50's. The Red and
Black vinyl/cloth combo looks great on the bench seats and is all
in excellent condition. A few additions were made to the interior
for more comfortable driving which includes the tilt steering
column, B&M Floor shifter, and AM/FM/MP3 player. A Vintage
AC/Heat system was also added but was set up to use the factory
controls. All of the interior trim work is just as nice as what is
on the exterior and all of the correct knobs/switches/gauges are in
place. The trunk is finished out as well with nice Red
carpeting.
This is one cool classic Chevy that would make a great addition to
your garage. These cars are one of the most widely recognized
classics out there and are a must have to complete any
collection!
