For Sale: 1964 Mercedes-Benz 220 in Grafton, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

1964 Mercedes Benz 220 S (b) 4DR Sedan

**UPDATED**

Please see end of write up for updated information.

1964, in Germany, an American GI purchased this car brand new for his equally new wife. Shortly thereafter they moved to Brooklyn NY. The lady drove this car exclusively. Proclaimed by her daughter as a French Femme Fatale, this woman absolutely loved this Mercedes Benz and drove her all over. This car was driven throughout Europe and then when back in the states, was driven throughout New England and south from their then NY home to the MD shoreline. 103,000 miles have been put on the clock in that time and the woman has taken great care of the car for it's entire life.

The 220 Sb was the slightly upscale version of the 220 and came stock with dual 2 barrel carbs, front disc brakes, leather interior, 4 speed automatic transmission,  power brakes and power steering.

The lady always maintained the car very well and records show from the very first oil change in Germany to the most recent oil change in 2014. I am assisting the daughter in selling the car as part of the estate as the mother passed away less than a year ago and drove the car as recently as 2015, when she was 88 years old.

In 2012 the lady had nearly $30,000 worth of work done to to the car including stripping down and repainting the car,  mechanical work to the rear axle, replacing the dual Zenith carbs with Weber downdraft carburetors and reupholstering the front seats in leather.

The car starts and runs and has a great rumble, a bit surprising for a rather sedate looking 4 dr sedan.

The car is rust free and will make an awesome cruiser.

The daughter has many fond memories of her Mom taking her and her friends to the beach with the Beatles, Moody Blues and other 60's-70's music playing. At 16 the daughter took her driving test in this car.

This one owner car is in great shape with only a couple of minor blemishes and will need to be moved onto a new conservator. The original CT title will go with the car.

**That was the story up until about 7-8 months ago when the car was purchased locally here in CT. The second owner didn't drive the car as he realized that it wasn't really the car he was looking for. He brought the car to the recent Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction in CT, where the car was sold to a man from MA, buying it for his wife. The car was driven home from the auction that weekend. His wife didn't like the car and with a card of mine he found in the car, he called me and has asked that I assist him in selling this wonderful Mercedes.. again.**

The asking price for this great German cruiser is $8000

Any questions, to arrange a time to see her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest.
