Vehicle Description
This is a real-deal 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 that has gone
through a frame-off restoration less than 3,000 miles ago. More
than look fantastic, it's loaded with all the best features,
including a wickedly powerful big block with four-on-the-floor. So
dig deeper into all the details of this award-winning classic.
If you don't like attention, then don't buy this car. That's
because most of us can't resist a shiny red Chevelle - especially
with brightwork in all the right places like the vented hood, extra
wide bumpers, and the trim that outlines every inch of glass.
Everything else is covered in an intimidating a glossy modern red
that highlights the super straight body. It's all the product of a
frame-off restoration by Wicked Customs that was completed in 2018,
and there has been less than 3,000 miles on the car since. And the
reason why this coupe has already won awards is because of the
detail work. For example, the full-length white stripe is a nice
match for all the correct white super Sport/SS badging. The Rally
wheels draw extra attention to the meaty tires on this powerful
Chevelle.
The interior is just as imposing and impressive as the exterior.
The deep black on the seats, doors panels, carpets, and dash are
all products of a solid investment. So it really looks like they
turned back the clock to deliver a fresh hardtop from '67. Except
there are a few key upgrades that keen eyes will see. This includes
a removable armrest center console, three-point front seatbelts,
and a retrosound AM/FM stereo with iPod hookup so you can listen to
modern runes in this very vintage ride. The three-spoke steering
wheel has that ideal thin and grippy feeling you want in a classic
coupe, and the Hurst shifter just seems to be calling out to your
right hand in all this darkness. Plus, the auxiliary gauge trio and
cleanly installed large AutoMeter AutoGauge tach let you know
there's something upgraded under the hood, too.
The engine bay has the best upgrade of them all. The tidy
presentation and bright valve covers will certainly attract a
crowd. But while the badges say this is a 396, that's a bit of a
fib... because this one has a massive 454 big block under the hood.
This big V8 has been fortified and enhanced with a bore .060 over
kit, Lunati performance camshaft, Holley double-pumper four-barrel
carburetor, and an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. The headers add
even more power while contributing to the rumble of the dual
exhaust. But any time you really want to bring the thunder, the
electric-operated cutouts will make them fear you well before they
see you. And you get complete control over the power and the
high-performance soundtrack thanks to the Muncie M21 close-ratio
four-speed manual transmission. Making sure all this power gets to
the ground is a 12-bolt rear end that has a 3.08 ratio and
Positraction. More than just a big power machine, this one feels
great on the road thanks to power steering, power brakes, and nice
details like fresh bushings.
The way this one fires right up reminds you of the difference when
someone invests big in a quality build. But we also have the build
receipts and restoration photos to prove it, too. So if you want a
top-quality, big-power Chevelle, don't miss this fresh restoration.
