Very interesting 1964 Mercury Comet.
The Vin Number is 4H 00 00000! I'm told it is a pre-production car and that makes sense. It was supposed to be destroyed, not sold when new.
DMV in Arizona said they could not print a title with 000000 for a VIN so they did an assigned VIN and gave out an Arizona title with the assigned number. The aluminum VIN tag they glued on the car has since fallen off so, it comes with a clear Az title not matching the correct VIN.
I have spoken to DMV and explained that the VIN is what makes the car so interesting and I'm sure it would not be difficult to get a title with the correct VIN. They require a Level 2 inspection to do that, they physically have to see the car and inspect the VIN.
As you can see in my pictures it needs restoration but it is a sold car and it has the 289 V8 and a 4 speed manual transmission.
Rare and I think it is safe to say one of a kind 1964 Mercury!
