1987 Ford ASC McLaren Mustang

Why Is This Car Special
The 1987 Ford Mustang ASC McLAREN MUSTANG we have at Skyway Classics is a rare and unique car. These were custom made Mustangs and contrary to what one may think Ford did not send incomplete body-in-white LX coupes to ASC/McLaren.

Each was complete including the 5.0 engine and GT underpinnings and they were fitted with the GT front fascia from the factory.

Mechanical Specs
Our ASC/McLaren Mustang is equipped with the 5.0-liter H.O. (302-cu.in.) V-8 with boosted output from the previous year's 200 hp to 225. This was achieved by installing a larger intake plenum and a 60-mm throttle body revised cylinder heads and 9.0:1 compression forged pistons.

It is backed with a four-speed automatic overdrive (AOD) transmission and has Mustang GT independent front suspension system consisting of struts performance springs and a 1.3-inch anti-roll bar. At the opposite end was the Mustang's Quadra-Shock system. The Mustang GT's power front disc/rear drum brake system was standard equipment.
ASC/McLaren Mustangs used gold honeycombed mesh cast-aluminum 15-inch supplied by Italy's Motorsport Wheel Company and performance blackwall tires. Features include power steering, Special Value Climate Control Air Conditioning, / Am Fm Electronic Stereo Cassette & Premium Sound, Tinted Glass, Power Lock Group, and more.

Interior
ASC Mustang interiors were also extensively modified with the rear seat removed and additional storage was made available. Ours has the Grey Bucket seat interior with the front seats having extra padding and covered in embroidered leather, door panels and the armrests are matching, and it has Mustang GT instrumentation.

Exterior
The body of our McClaren also received alterations as it started life at the factory as an LX notchback coupe before the top was cut off the windshield tipped back and it was converted into a custom, true, two-seater and a custom convertible top added along with side skirts and taillamp covers.

Our Mustang is painted a bright red with great paint and appeal, all the trim and bumpers look good, the rear spoiler is racy looking and overall appearance is also great.
