I love this car! Her name is Maude...... a 1970 Volkswagen Squareback, automatic transmission. Runs, drives, and stops good. Overhauled in the early 2000s before I bought her in 2008, interior refurbished with new white/cream vinyl, seatbelts, carpet on the flooring. Exterior was painted dark blue. Was my daily driver for a few years 2008- 2011 and was very reliable. After that she has been in the garage for the last 8 years. As far as I know always has been in California. I've kept every receipt from any work I've had done. Before me she was owned by a man who refurbishes old VWs. Has new radio and speakers, but needs amplifier. She has a few rust spots on the chrome bumpers, and a few on the body as well. The muffler needs replacing and is pretty rusty. The panel on the dash that covers the electrical switches is missing, and she needs a bit of electrical work. I believe the defrost no longer works (never needed it in California). The gas gauge also does not work, or at least is not very accurate. The main issue that needs more immediate attention is the seals/ gaskets around the windshield and windows. They are old and cracked and no longer watertight. I had intentions to make this my project car and make her good as new, but let my loss be your gain! She would make a great project car! I would love for her to go to someone who will bring her back to life and treat her like the star that she is.
