Vehicle Description
Look through our inventory and you'll see plenty of 1940 Fords, but
oddly, not nearly as many Chevrolets. The big two have been duking
it out since the mid-20s, and if your tastes run to the pre-war
era, you owe it to yourself to take a good look at this gorgeous
1940 Chevrolet Master 85 Streetrod. Professionally built with a
fuel-injected crate 350 and a lot of luxury and convenience items,
this is the perfect rod for the person who loves to drive.
The Burgundy paint was expertly applied at the time of this '40s
extensive restoration just over 1,000 miles ago, and on the
curvaceous body it looks amazing, bringing out the details and
giving it a show-quality glow out in the sunlight. The body is OEM
steel that hasn't been chopped or modified in any way. And why
would you? The Master is already one of the most handsome cars of
the era, with tidy proportions, cool faired-in headlights, and a
timeless profile. Bodywork is first-rate, with a lot of extra care
used on the final finish. That means tons of block sanding and hand
work to get all the surfaces flat, and an expert behind the paint
gun to lay it down so beautifully. It shows very little use, and
thanks to the wonders of urethane technology, it'll look this good
for years to come. A few custom liberties were taken, specifically
the introduction of PT Cruiser door and rear hatch handles, deleted
bumpers fore and aft, and LED taillights. The hood was also
stripped of it's stock trim for a more streamlined look, and 3M
rock chip protection film was installed on the front end and
running boards to protect the beautiful finish.
You couldn't ask for a better place to spend some time than the
gorgeous tan leather interior. Designed and installed by award
winner Aaron Davis, the presentation and level of comfort inside
the cabin is second to none currently in our inventory. The leather
front seats were swapped in from a modern Porsche, and both driver
and passenger are power operated. The backseat area was upholstered
to match, and there's plenty of room for your larger friends.
Nestled between the front buckets, the custom center console is
beautifully designed and houses all the switches and controls for
the cabin, along with a Lokar shifter that controls the 700R4
transmission. There's also Vintage A/C, power windows and locks, a
Flaming River tilt steering column, and a thumping 1,000 watt
stereo with speakers scattered throughout the passenger
compartment. The original dash uses Classic Instruments gauges for
a cool effect against the burgundy finish, and things like the A/C
vents and controls are nicely integrated. The massive trunk has
been finished with matching carpets and side panels. If you're
going cross-country, this is definitely the car to take.
Cruising is easy thanks to the Edelbrock fuel-injected 350 crate
motor under the hood. Making plenty of horsepower, it moves the
slick Chevy with authority that the original inline-six could never
manage. With an Edelbrock EFI and intake, HEI ignition, and a full
Ron Francis wiring harness along with a 4-bolt block, it's a
reliable powerplant that's also a party on the road. There's enough
chrome on the engine to make opening the hood an event, and thanks
to a Stage 3 Bowtie 700R4 transmission, it handles the power from
the small block without issue and cruises effortlessly. Out back
there's a Ford 9" TruTrac rear with 3.73 gears, and the front
suspension is an independent Mustang II setup with solid stainless
tubular A-arms and Carrera coilovers. Sway bars are found front and
rear, and along with power steering and power 4-disc brakes,
driving this steel '40 is an absolute dream. Sanderson ceramic
coated headers feed into a 3-inch dual exhaust that features
Magnaflow mufflers, and the low rumble is absolutely fantastic at
almost every rev point. Classic Cragar 5-spoke wheels wear
BFGoodrich radials that really fill the big wheel wells and finish
the look.
Fully sorted and ready to go cross-country, this awesome Chevy
coupe is a great show and go cruiser that'll make you smile every
time you see it. Call today!
