Vehicle Description
Looking for a true muscle car icon in such top-notch condition that
it needs nothing but a turn of the ignition key to get the admiring
nods and good times on the asphalt started? Check out this 1966
Chevrolet Impala. This is a truly outstanding classic - it's
wearing its original colors both inside and out, with everything in
stellar form, and offers plenty of big block power fed by an
upgraded carburetion system.
That Regal Red color draped over the exterior may look like the
results of some aftermarket customization, but it in fact
represents the very shade this Chevy wore as it emerged from the
assembly line more than a half century ago. You can tell right off
that the paint was applied at the hands of a pro - it's a got a
great shine and carries no distracting flaws - a simple detailing
session will elevate it to undisputed show quality. The curb appeal
it provides is amped up even more with some nice finishing work -
check out those color matched perimeters surrounding the chrome
centers on the wheels. From front to back, the chrome fitting,
badging and body trim on this classic are in top form - Chevy
introduced their new generation of the model to unparalleled
success just a year before this '66 debuted and this specimen,
still displaying an authentic factory-looking appearance, is a
sterling representative in all respects.
As a thorough restoration brought the exterior up to optimum form,
the interior was redone at the same time, so you'll be surrounded
by a sharp vintage driving environment as you climb in. There are
new black vinyl covers over the front buckets and rear bench seat
to recreate their original factory appearance and the carpet below
them appears fresh. Farther forward, the fully functional factory
gauges in the dash are joined by a pair of aftermarket displays
just below to keep tabs on oil pressure and operating temperature
and a clean expanse of chrome trim runs the width of the cabin. An
added AM/FM/CD stereo offers increased audio capacity by virtue of
the multi-CD changer in the trunk and is easily navigated by
controls mounted on shifter. Raise the deck lid and you'll see that
inner fenders of the spacious trunk area are solid and a full-size
spare sits inside.
Abundant power comes from the 396 cubic inch V8 at the center of a
very clean and well-detailed engine bay with just over 2700 miles
on the build. Dressed in fresh paint over its block and valve
covers, the big block is fed by a pair of Carter 4-barrel carbs
perched on its aluminum intake manifold - malnutrition will never
be an issue here. Bored .040 for even more displacement, its output
is further increased by solid lifters, roller rockers and a comp
cam. An MSD ignition system joins the other top tier components to
provide maximum spark as the engine pairs with a 3-speed automatic
TH400 transmission benefitting from an added shift kit and the
drivetrain is completed by a 3.55 rear end that puts the
considerable power on board to the pavement with maximum
efficiency. In addition to its straight ahead prowess, this classic
also offers a really solid overall driving experience - it's been
outfitted with new suspension and steering components to make for a
nice, smooth ride and tight, responsive handling made even better
by the featured power steering.
This 1966 Chevrolet Impala has been restored to razor sharpness
both inside and out, and its enhanced big block power and fresh
array of components make for an outstanding vintage driving
