Vehicle Description
A gorgeous two owner Silver Shadow II sedan in simply lovely
condition in every respect. This is an April 1980 build and its VIN
put hers within the last series Silver Shadows ever made. Finished
in Exeter Blue (non-metallic) with rich tan Connolly hide interior
and matching floor rugs. The car is finished with hand-painted
tan/gold fine-lines on the body waist-line and the hub-cap trim
rings. The color is a stunning combination with the dark blue
presenting very regally against the rich and sumptuous tan
interior. The matching carpets are a very formal touch and also
carry thru to the trunk (boot). With only some 39,000 miles, she
really is a darling. The body on the car is very straight and the
paint is extremely nice. It had been a southern state car for most
of its life. It was professionally repainted some 5-10 years ago so
it presents absolutely beautifully. Other than the odd little chip
(very minor and mentioned out of clear disclosure only) the paint
is excellent. Entirely consistent, high in luster and no signs of
any over-spray on any externally fitted part. Please understand,
many colours and paints used by Rolls-Royce in the 70s did not "go
the distance" as those today and chemically broke down after 20
years to evidence loss of shine and fade. All evidence shows this
to be the only reason the car was repainted; never accident damaged
and certainly no rust issues. When the car was repainted, it was
with all windows out so these now all have new rubbers and gaskets.
A Euro spec front air dam was also fitted so the car presents very
smartly indeed. (Silver Shadow IIs look somewhat "incomplete" with
no front air-dam). The interior of the car is in stunning condition
with excellent original Connolly hide leather. The leather has
NEVER been recoloured and as such you can see the signature "toning
effect" that only real, un-molested Connolly Vaumol hides reveal
(This is a process whereby Connolly vat tanned their hides and then
rubbed a darker tone colour to bring out the natural grain - there
is a photo below and in the link that captures this). The
un-touched hides is excellent testament to its low mileage and
showing just the perfect amount of natural patina that is just
gorgeous. The leather is soft and supple. All the wood is in
excellent condition having been recently refinished. This includes
the door cappings, dash, centre dash and vanity mirrors.
Interesting the car has fitted a Euro spec ashtray on the front
passenger door. The headlining is in beautiful condition without
any of the "grubbiness" often seen on these wool headliners. The
carpet is also in excellent shape. The deep grain and glossy finish
of the rich grained wood in this example combined with the rich
honey tan leather and the contrasting blue exterior makes it all
very rich and inviting. All interior feature and functions are
fully operational including all electrics - seats, windows, gauges,
clock etc. The A/C blows icy cold and heater working well.
Everything is all so clean and crisp. It has its original Blaupunkt
stereo fitted along with the factory Pioneer tape player. The
chrome and bright work is very fine without any pitting and the
rubber around the car is good. Mechanically, the car is in superior
condition and the presentation under the bonnet clearly shows that.
It has not been "done-up" for sale but maintained in original
condition. All hydraulics and brakes have been inspected and
tested, working well. Exhaust is good. The car has been fully
work-shop inspected. The car comes with the correct jack, tools and
operating manual. This is a 10 out of 10 driver example that needs
nothing else doing. It makes for a gorgeous "weekender" that you
could take to your next RR meet with pride and joy.
