This is a real 442, as designated by the vin #. It is also highly
optioned, has great colors and a big block 455 motor. I sold this
car 8 years ago and we just got it back. It's in great shape, has
clean metal, even the underside is clean.
EXTERIOR: It's a handsome looking car. That Matador red paint looks
like I could dive right in. It's straight and has mirror
reflection. There are a couple minor touch ups. The paint is over
10 years old which is a testament to having a clean body with a
quality paint job. I did not see any bubbling down along the
bottoms. The fenders, doors, trunk, hood line up nice. The white
striping is properly laid out. In front the 442 grills are in
excellent shape, the trim is bright, bumper looks new. Emblems,
door handles, stainless trim is excellent. In back the bumper is
rechromed and has the cutouts for the trumpet exhaust tips. The
wheels are restored, has really bright polished trim rings and BFG
tires. The door jambs are nice. Bottom of the doors are real clean,
the weather strips and window seals still look like new. White
convertible top is in very good shape.
INTERIOR: Very nice inside. There's no rips or tears. All the white
upholstery, door panels, armrests are in great shape. Visor has
tattered edge. Carpet looks practically new, has embroidered
floormats. The dash area is really nice no cracks or damage. It's
loaded up with options. Down in the center console it has the Hurst
dual gate shifter which is cool and nostalgic. It also has the
rally pack gauges and tick tock tachometer. In addition to that if
it has a sport wheel on a tilt column, power windows, power trunk
release, factory Am-Fm radio. Currently there's a custom CD stereo
mounted neatly under the dash with kick panel speakers and a
remote.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Has a 455 motor that runs real nice, it's
painted the correct blue color. Everything looks tidy- the
brackets, inner fenders, core support, fan shroud. It has power
steering and brakes. Factory a/c car and it's complete. Needs to be
serviced, the previous owner hasn't used it.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Really clean metal and the trunk compartment has
a good coat of spatter finish paint. Trunk light actually works, it
has the correct type trunk mat with the tire cover. Underneath that
tire cover is a brand new BFG tire on a matching rally rim. Has a
complete jack assembly. The power trunk release does work from
inside the car. Well liner that the top folds down into looks
new.
UNDERSIDE: Exceptionally clean. The floors are super clean. The
frame, rockers, lower inner 1/4s are all real nice. Up front it has
disc brakes, steering components look good. It has the F-41
suspension which includes sway bars and boxed control arms. Bottom
of motor and the Turbo 400 trans look spotless. Several components
look replaced- starter, brake and fuel lines, brake hoses, e-brake
cables, dual exhaust, shocks etc.
I've always been a 442 fan. Compared to a Chevelle, they typically
have more options and were better cared for. If you want a sharp
muscle car convertible that is comfortable, this is your best
choice!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
