For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Corvette in Burlington, Ontario

Vehicle Description

1968 C3 Corvette L36 427 C.I.D. automtic transmission removeable T-Tops and back window, manual brakes and steering, tach drive distributor, totally rebuilt 427 engine with closed chamber pistons matched to open chamber heads to produce a driveable compression ratio, new rochester quadrajet carb, and stall converter. i purchased this car in 1983 registered it the same year according to the ownership history provided by the government. it was not in good running condition when i purchased it. it needed some igntion work, headlights didnt pop up and the brake pedal was going to the floor. replacing the ignition resister, vaccuum lines to the headlights, all 4 rotors, 3 calipers, emergency brake shoes and machining the rivets off the left rear drive axle fixed it all up. the engine was not original when i purchased and it blew up shortly after all the other repairs, i had a selection of big block engines sitting around and a machinist who built stock cars. he took all the best parts from my collection and built an authentic 427 engine with a tough rited steel crank closed chamber pistons with matching heads, the compression was so high we had to install short spark plugs to allow the pistons to hit T.D.C. the compression was ridiculous and we couldnt find hi enoguh octane fuel except for stock car fuel which was purchased by the 45 gallon drum. i wanted a driveable car, so he went back to my collection and selected a set of open chamber heads which brought the compression into reality and the engine would run on premium pump gas. i was young and stupid and wanted more off the line get up and go so i had a stall converter installed which admitedly was a mistake as it didnt give me what i was looking for off the line and seemed to diminish the top end which is the big blocks fortay. as time went by i married had a daughter who loved to ride in daddys corvette but her uncle had been killed in a fiery crash in a hemi powered mopar machine. i drove the vette so rarley that i ended up parking it and it sat from the early 90s. i moved it to my parents garage in the mid 90s to make room for other vehicles as i was space constrained. i always fancied i would restore the car with my son who now lives way out west. i am getting mobile and ready to retire so after sitting for more than 25 years i think its time to let go. i do have those closed chamber heads if someone wanted to build a racer and the matching intake manifold for the heads they are a different port shape. the rest of the car is pretty much original i pulled it out of the garage to take photos and i know i have the door handle for the drivers side somewhere but i have misplaced it over the years, i dont remember if there ever was door lock handles but they are missing, everything else was in working condition including the pop up headlights and pop up cowl for the wipers when i parked it. as state the car has been parked and sitting for more than 25 years but when it was originally parked it was driven into the garage the battery was removed and it sat since so its needs lots of T.L.C. and elbow grease to get it back into driving condition. its an amazing sounding and driving car and i did have a brand new rad built for it back in the day as like most 68s it had a factory overheating issue which we overcame with a custom 4 core rad, its not leaking or anything but its been around a long time. i am asking $15000 usd for this treasure i am sure it will find a great home and someone who will put the effort into making it a driving car again, i dont think i have enough years left in my life to accomplish this goal as too many years have passed me by at this point so its time to hand it off
