Vehicle Description
1971 Ford Torino GT
This car was named after the city of Turin (Torino, in Italian),
considered "the Italian Detroit". The Torino was initially an
upscale variation of the intermediate sized Ford Fairlane, which
Ford produced between 1962 and 1972.
For consignment a Torino GT with its fastback, open headlamps,
yellow respray, and upgraded wheels. A mostly original car, with
some upgrades.
Exterior
With fairly straight steel body panels wrapped in Grabber Yellow,
we see original badging which shows some pitting and rust, chrome
which has some fading, and brite work which remains in nice
condition. Body matched racing mirrors adorn the doors, a top dead
centered hood scoop, wide stainless rocker moldings with a 3D GT
badge on the lower front quarters, clean drip moldings and window
surrounds, and a full rear quarter to rear quarter brake
light/reflector finishes off the body. Noted is a dent in the top
driver's side front quarter panel. New blue bulbed headlight
assemblies have been added on. Sporty wheels are wrapped by raised
white lettered tires, which are a bit wider than the factory ones
this car would have been born with.
Interior
A swing of the door, and we are met with a black covered door panel
with a chromed spear trim, and some corresponding spear pattern
stitching. Manual window cranks, and a toggle for the sport mirrors
is also noted. Moving inside we sit on a black vinyl split back
bench up front, and a full bench in the rear, both in excellent
condition. A clutter free black dash with all its factory parts,
knobs, and gauges fronts the split bench, and is also in excellent
crack free, fade free condition. Black carpet covers the floor, and
also has no fading or staining. The headliner remains nice and
tight, with no markings or tears. Let's just say for this interior
black is beautiful.
Drivetrain
A lift of the long hood and we are met with a very clean, and shiny
engine bay. All buttoned up this 351ci Cleveland V8 with a 2-barrel
carburetor on top, blue cover, and blue valve covers, consigner
states it runs smoothly and has no problems. A C4 3-speed automatic
transmission is on the back of this mill and drives a Ford 9" 2.75
rear.
Undercarriage
A nicely preserved rust-free environment under here with a strong
frame, and mar free floorboards. A new exhaust system is present,
as well as Disc brakes all around with new hoses for them, and new
brake cylinders all around, all recently installed. Original
factory undercoating is there and was left there so as to not hide
anything that would be a surprise. Consigner also states there are
headers included with the sale of this car.
Well maintained, clean, rust free, Grabber Yellow respray,
beautiful original interior, and some power under the hood, you are
ready to put a tiger in your tank and burn some rubber!
