Vehicle Description
After waiting in line behind Japan and Europe for over a decade,
the U.S. market finally received the EVO and WRX, but by that time
Toyota was out of the game. Unfortunately, the U.S. was never able
to sample Toyota's version of a roadworthy, 2.0-liter turbo,
all-wheel drive terror - until now, as the 1994 ST205 Celica
GT-Four is now legal in the U.S. Featuring aerodynamic styling,
with all the wings, vents and grilles that made the 1990s
rally-great; this car drives even better than it looks. Finished in
Lucerne Silver, the stock body is straight and devoid of any major
blemishes, complemented by the BSA silver alloy wheels and C-ONE
rear aero wing. Besides a Blitz boost gauge and Panasonic head
unit, the cockpit is all factory. The seats and carpets are in good
shape, and the headliner is in equally good condition. The dash is
crack-free, and defrost, heat, and air conditioning work well.
Power windows and locks all work properly. For nighttime driving,
the interior lighting is clearly legible, and Toyota's fantastic
ergonomics allow for all the buttons to be easily accessed by the
driver. This 3S-GTE is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline
4-cylinder engine backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. It's
quick, and the twin-entry turbo system has little lag compared to
other cars of the era. The OEM suspension is firm yet allows for
better cushion from potholes than coilover-equipped examples.
Braking response is immediate, and the little rally missile
benefits from new front brakes. The short-ratio transmission
smoothly clicks into gear and is hitch-free. The steering is light,
yet communicative. The odometer reads in kilometers. **PREVIOUS
