Vehicle Description
The Chevrolet S-10 is one of many iconic American trucks. A popular
choice for casual handymen and custom minitruckers alike, the S-10
was a lot of usefulness crammed into one manageable package!
Originally introduced in 1981, the S-10 lasted until 2004 across
two generations with just one major redesign. Given their size and
low cost, the trucks made for a wide variety of other uses from
spacious daily drivers as well as drag vehicles.
This 1987 S-10 is from right in the middle of the first generation
S-10, and has that classic square look everyone loves. The exterior
has been kept largely true to original form, but has received
tasteful modifications to give it an appropriate look for drag
racing. A cowl induction hood looks right at home up front, and the
integrated front bumper gives the whole vehicle a slick look! A
quality tonneau cover is the perfect finishing touch to keep this
truck looking refined, while also hiding the fuel cell and
relocated battery for a cleaner look. "Euro" style taillights give
this S-10 a bit of a minitruck feel, while reminding those around
that this truck is far from stock. Overall, while this is a mild
custom build, the cosmetics have been kept subtle to allow the
driver to surprise the unsuspecting.
The interior is almost entirely stock, with the exception of a few
minor changes as well as an aftermarket steering wheel and more
notably the B&M Pro-Stick ratchet shifter installed in the
floor. This is a fun vehicle to drive, and the original interior
makes it more of a street/strip vehicle. A dash-mounted Equus
tachometer and aftermarket oil/temp/voltage gauges ensure that
you'll always know what's going on under the hood!
While the original engine options for these S-10s were reliable but
underwhelming, as part of the transition to a street/strip truck a
built Chevrolet 350 V8 has been installed under the hood. Coupled
with a TH400 automatic transmission, leaving black lines on the
asphalt is a simple task! This 350 has been built to produce more
than enough power, and nothing gets up and goes like a
high-horsepower pickup!
If you're looking for a fun weekend vehicle to take down to the
drag strip from time to time, finding a more affordable option is
going to be tough. Get your summer racer soon!
