I am the second owner and have owned it since 1978 In Montana. I paid for mechanical restoration and 4k in wiring. Ready for body shop mint condition or as is for a a truly bad ass 4x4.
LMC truck catalog has EVERYTHING for this truck from 1976 - 1973 Ford Trucks for body shop to bring up the aesthetics
I am unable to enjoy it now and hope it finds a good home. It's a fantastic 4x4 and that Ford FE 428 with Detroit Locker rear end and Dayna 60 limited slip front end, no truck has out matched it, because I pulled everyone out, more often pulling others the same way that got them stuck. And lots of 3/4 tons too, up and out She also hauled a 3 ton boat up 25% grade at 55 and would still keep going faster.. She is an off road beast. Plenty of torque. This Ford has lived in the Sierra Mountains and the Foothills all its life except 1 1/2 yrs. in Great Falls Montana that's when I bought it. I have not hot rodded around or thrashing it driving on all the logging roads, just enjoyed getting up to speed limit quickly. And the oil was changed when it looked dirty not to past dirty specs. Have always used Castrol GTX 20-50 in summer, gets near and over 100 degrees here, and Castrol GTX 10-40 for winter. Always very clean oil. I aquired engine about 1986 from Roseville Engine and Machine in North of Sacramento, Calif. I told the shop to build it with 400 hp yet as close to stock as possible. In late 1980s I had a installed with no seam in rollers, towards top to help retain more oil in upper head area. Then double roller rockers to top it off. The double roller chain, was done at the same time. The different push rods with x pattern filing and double roller rockers were done at same time.
When starting just 1 or 2 pumps on accelerator and not even a full turn on engine and sounds like most hot rods starting, yet no headers just stock exhaust manifolds, so that is the Ford FE 428 that's so sweet of a sound.
The front grill was replaced with a 1973 grill from a branch breaking the original 1976 grill. So it looks like a 1973 yet Department of Motor Vehicles shows it being a 1976
