Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this charming 1953 Fiat 500C
Transformable, affectionately known as the Topolino (which
translates from the Italian as "little mouse" - and is also the
Italian name for Mickey Mouse). Fiat introduced the 500 in 1936;
the final iteration of the Topolino, the 500C, ran from 1949 to
1955. The car was a success for Fiat, with over 500,000 units sold
during its nearly 20 year production run. Convertible versions like
this one with a retracting roof (aka the transformable) are among
the most desirable and collectible today.
This example was just imported from Italy out of long-term
single-family ownership. Attractively finished in dark blue with a
black top (in like-new condition) and a light grey interior, paint
and body are in nice condition. Most of the trim is original and
shows only light patina. Nice original wheels and hubcaps with
Michelin X radials.
Fitted with a tiny 569 cc four-cylinder engine mated to a
four-speed manual transmission, zero-to-sixty time is, well,
infinite as the top speed is around 50 mph. But the car is
perfectly adequate for around-town driving and its driving dynamics
are surprisingly composed. This example starts, runs and drives
well and is certainly a conversation starter.
