Vehicle Description
In the face of modern technology, which continues to blow our minds
with OEM quality and amazing custom cars, there's still something
to be said about authenticity. Sure, tons of companies create super
nice fiberglass replicas of some of the coolest Detroit metal to
ever roll across Route 66. But at the end of the day, they're still
just a copy of the real thing. Featuring 460 cubic inches of proven
Dearborn power, this real steel street rod combines the core
strengths of originality with modern dynamics and top-notch
components. Are you one of those discerning gearheads who wants the
excellent driving experience of modern street rod technology AND
the authenticity of a real antique car? This first class Ford is
the opportunity you've been waiting for!
CRAFT AND FORM
This hot coupe's smooth and solid steel began life as a
run-of-the-mill 1936 Model 48 that was maintained, driven and
paraded for most of its life. Today, thanks to a detailed, body-off
restoration, that old school metal has been stripped, strengthened
and tastefully massaged into an enduring aesthetic that will simply
never go out of style. At the front of the car's glossy PPG Omni
Black 2-stage, a tucked and guarded bumper traces a color-keyed
grille, which bends between polished horn rings that hide bright
parking lamps. Those lamps are shaded by '39 Chevrolet
torpedo-style headlights, which plant shortened stanchions at the
sides of a custom, 3-piece hood. At the back of that rear-hinged
bonnet, 2-speed Newport wipers, presently relieved of their arms,
split the difference between a tilting windshield and an unchopped
roof that's been upgraded with a steel insert. At the sides of that
smoked greenhouse, factory door handles complement a flush fuel
filler and elegant swan neck mirrors. Those mirrors reflect a
custom, electronically opened trunk that, extended, smoothed and
radiused, really plays up the quality of Ford's design. And at the
bottom of that deck, a second tucked and guarded bumper frames
bright LED taillights that have been tastefully molded into the
car's rear fenders.
CRAFT AND POWER
Employ this coupe's removable hood panels and you'll reveal a
massive, 460 cubic inch Ford V8 that provides both great power and
great drivability. At the top of that fully sorted mill, a polished
Ford air cleaner feeds oxygen to a 750cfm Holley 4-barrel that's
tamed by an electric choke. Below that carb, a tough Weiand Stealth
intake rides between lightweight aluminum heads, which are equipped
with polished Ford valve covers and a duo of polished breathers. In
front of those heads, a proven Mallory distributor sequences fire
between an MSD Blaster coil and loomed Taylor plug wires. Coated
headers look great caging bright blue block paint. A flashy March
serpentine drive spins a polished alternator opposite a polished AC
compressor. A custom fan shroud frames a polished radiator, which
is paired with a polished expansion tank. And the car's Omni Black
engine bay, backed with a nicely recessed firewall, is dotted with
choice pieces like braided hoses, polished lines and a billet,
electronically assisted master cylinder.
CRAFT AND POISE
This Ford's confident engine is paired with a cooled C6 3-speed,
which spins smooth torque to a shortened Ford 9-inch that's
finished with a limited-slip differential and sturdy, 3.28 gears.
In front of that drivetrain, a familiar Mustang II front-clip cages
fluid rack-and-pinion steering between tubular control arms, a
Welder Series sway bar and quality Aldan coil-overs. Behind that
drivetrain, a triangulated 4-bar rear-half makes excellent use of
more tubular control arms and a second pair of Aldan coil-overs.
Those upgrades are bolted to a custom, boxed chassis that reflects
solid, fully undercoated floors. Stops come courtesy of
power-assisted discs and drums. The aforementioned headers flow
into coated pipes, which position bold Flowmaster Hushpower
mufflers in front of tucked tips. And polished Billet Specialties
Legacies turn simulated spinners inside 165SR15 Michelin XZXs and
235/75R15 Michelin LTXs.
CRAFT AND LUXURY
Twist this awesome 48's handles and you'll find a custom leather
interior that continues the theme of classic cool. The driver and
one passenger perch on French-stitched Chocolate leather that's
stretched around power-operated Eldorado buckets. In front of those
thrones, a '54 Oldsmobile dash flows into a custom console that's
stacked with Vintage Air climate control, a spry Auto Meter
tachometer and a Custom Autosound head unit that's linked to a
Custom Autosound CD changer. Beneath those Ron Francis-backed
electronics, German square-weave carpet frames Lokar foot pedals on
the way to custom side panels, which front remote-controlled power
windows that tilt just as the factory intended. And the driver
commands the scene through a short Lokar shifter and a tilting,
reduced-diameter steering wheel that was cribbed straight from a
1940 Ford.
You really can't ask for a cooler street rod than this sublime
Ford. With an unbeatable combination of authentic good looks and
modern hot rod technology, it's the perfect car for any enthusiast
who wants a top-notch build without spending two years and six
figures achieving it. If you're in the market for a classy,
all-steel cruiser, don't let the opportunity to own this awesome
coupe pass you by!
