Vehicle Description
1969 Ford Mustang Convertible
Ads appearing in Magazines in 1969 stated "Somebody finally built a
better Mustang...We did" meaning for the past 4 years the Mustang
has been the bestselling car out there, and finally Ford outdid
themselves with the newly designed Mustang for 1969. Clever!
For consignment a first year of the second generation of the
Mustang all wrapped up and in convertible form. Soak up the sun,
drive and have fun with this one, as you can get in and turn the
key, and you will be on the road immediately.
Exterior
Originally from the factory this car left with Lime Gold paint, and
an Ivy Gold interior. All has since changed with a restoration that
now covers the car in Red, with some black pin striping. Chrome
bumpers and headlight bezels are in good condition, side mirror and
door handles show some pitting and slight bubbling on the chrome.
Brite work and window surrounds are in good condition and shiny.
The convertible is working properly, has no rips or tears, and has
a folding glass rear window, and comes with an interior matching
tonneau cover in Black. New for 69, the front is more rakish and
has 4 headlights...2 of which reside in the grille along with the
Mustang badging, this year losing the galloping stallion the
middle, and presenting it smaller over a vertical striped bar.
Interior
Covered in now Black vinyl, buckets up front and rear bench show
little wear, and are free of rips or tears. Padding in seats is
consistent, and all good. A black thick carpet covers the floors
and is in good condition, with no staining or fading. The dash is
rakish as well and has the deeply imbedded round instruments in
front of the original steering wheel. The center of the dash now
heads toward the floor and meets the hump and includes an
aftermarket AM/FM/CD player, and heating + airflow controls. The
shapely iconic Mustang T style shift lever resides well within
reach of the driver and presents in chrome.
Drivetrain
A rebuilt engine with many new listed parts shows when opening the
hood. Consigner states that this rebuild has 23,223 miles on it
since and runs smoothly. As for specs, we see an original
cosmetically unrestored (but rebuilt) 302ci V8 engine topped by a
2-barrel carburetor and backed by a C4 3-speed automatic
transmission.
Undercarriage
Surface rust is noted on typical steel untreated parts, but the
floorpans, toe kicks and inner fenders as well as the frame are
rust free and solid. Some suspension parts have surface rust as
well, but all is sound with these. A 2.79 conventional axle is
noted, and 4-wheel power drum brakes are seen all around.
The beneficiary of an older restoration and color change for the
exterior and interior, an engine rebuild, but the power plant has
been left original cosmetically, and many new parts added when the
rebuild occurred. A solid example, runs smoothly, shifts
effortlessly, and is in overall good condition.
