For Sale: 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Modeled after a famous GM Motorama concept, and sold as a high-price, low-production 'halo car', the first generation Nomad is a true all-time all-star. So, how do you make a car that's already as hot as this shooting-brake Chevy even more desirable? You professionally refinish its body, bolt up some fresh suspension components, throw in a buff big block and line it with a nice combination of classic style and modern convenience. If you like your tri-five to be show ready AND fun to drive, but a Bel Air is just too common and too cramped, this super cool Nomad is your next cruiser!

Built to turn heads while conquering the road, this sweet Chevy is the beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that was conducted by Ridler Great 8 award winners T&T Customs of Canton, Georgia. At the front of the car's silky black aesthetics, a guarded bumper traces a polished grille, clear parking lamps and ornately trimmed headlights. At the top of that grille, a Chevrolet-branded hood props a requisite Jetbird in front of a smoked greenhouse that's cleared by polished wipers. At the base of that stainless-trimmed glass, a "Bel Air" branded profile floats guarded door handles above factory speed spears that feature a custom smoke effect. And at the back of the car, a second guarded bumper traces a "Nomad" branded trunk and stainless-trimmed tail lamps.

Hoist this wagon's rolled bonnet and you'll find 502 cubic inches of polished big block that's bolted in a smoothed and body-matched engine bay. At the front of that monster mill, a chrome, bowtie-branded air cleaner twists oxygen in to a chromed Street and Performance Ramjet that's wired with chromed fuel rails and a liquid-filled pressure gauge. That intake funnels power through cast iron heads, which prop chromed valve covers under polished caps and breathers. At the back of those heads, a traditional distributor sends fire through loomed Taylor plug wires. At the front of the motor, a chromed serpentine drive turns a polished Edelbrock water pump between a chromed AC compressor and a chromed alternator. Exhaust exits through coated Sanderson headers. A beefy aluminum radiator hangs a polished expansion tank in a custom core support. And show worthy detailing includes trick dipsticks, a smoke-themed oil pan, tubed wiring and chromed hood hardware.

Park this Nomad on a lift and you'll find solid floors that, along with a professionally boxed and smoothed chassis, sport a high gloss, body-matched appearance. At the center of those custom bones, a proven 700R4 4-speed, splashed with the same smoke aesthetic as the car's oil pan, spins torque to a smoke-themed driveshaft that's paired with a trick Winters 9-inch. That polished pumpkin uses 31-spline Moser axles to push a polished double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension that's finished with tubular control arms and modern coil-over-shocks. Turns are stylish and easy thanks to chromed power steering. At the corners, polished and power-assisted Wilwoods clamp vented rotors. The aforementioned headers feed coated pipes, which employ great sounding glasspack-style mufflers. And all that mechanical goodness rolls on polished, spinner-capped blades, which lap 235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 285/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As.

Climb inside this razor-sharp tri-five and you'll find a fully custom interior that, installed by Holly Pond, Alabama's M&M Hot Rod Interiors, features dramatic style and great looking trim. Covered in soft leather, the car's aftermarket buckets are all-day comfortable. Beneath those seats, cut-pile carpet centers a custom, full-length console around a familiar Sony CD player and a ratcheting B&M Hammer Shifter. That console flows to a matte dash, which fashions mirrored trim around Dakota Digital telemetry, Vintage Air climate control and billet foot pedals. At the side of that dash, custom, polished sills frame custom side panels and billet accessory handles, which front modern power windows that roll to a custom headliner and polished roof bows. And the driver spins a polished and half-wrapped wheel around a modern, tilting column.

It's no wonder the Chevrolet Nomad enjoys such huge popularity, because it just doesn't get much better than this slick '55 resto-mod. With a plush interior, head turning style and muscle car streetability, this wagon is the perfect combination of form and function. Call your friends at RK Motors for more information!
