1940 Mercury Sedan Coupe
This Mercury Sedan Coupe came from Ohio in 1963. It was sold to a garage in Montgomery, PA where it almost ended up as a stock car before Brian Lynch rescued it. He began working on the Mercury, but then changed his focus when his wife found a 65 Mustang. So in 1980, the opportunity opened and this "Merc" was purchased. To restore the car, the seller traveled to various flea markets as far away as Carlise, PA, Charlotte, NC and Dunkirk, NY to purchase various parts. The dashboard components were constructed out of cherry lumber. The seller and his wife took a trip to LeBaron Bonney Company in MA to purchase the upholstery material. Richard Ferrier did all of the upholstery work. Finally, after a lot of hard work, diligence, and patience, this restoration was completed in 1991.
The seller belongs to the Mercury International Drivers Club and enjoys driving this "Merc" as far as Charlotte, NC for a Mercury Meet. This car received its first Junior in Carlisle in the 1993 Spring National and its first Senior in Hagerstown, MD in 1994. The "Merc" placed third in the Grand National in Williamsport, PA. Overall, this car has received seven Preservation Awards.
