Vehicle Description
One of 1,518 4-speed convertibles produced in 1968, this 442
underwent a professional, frame-off, nut-and-bolt rotisserie
restoration performed by renowned automotive restorer Jerry Csontos
of Northampton, PA, and has been driven approximately 100 miles
since its completion. Under the hood is a detailed engine bay
housing the matching-numbers 400/350hp Rocket engine dressed in
factory-correct colors and linked to the original, matching-numbers
Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, which feeds power to the
factory-original 10-bolt rear end with 3.42 gears. All correct
casting codes and partial VIN stampings are present on the engine
and transmission. The car idles and drives as it should, and has
plenty of power and torque through all four gears. The factory
power steering is smooth and tracks straight going down the
highway. Formerly part of the collection of Paul Teutul Sr. of
"American Chopper" fame, it is rust-free and laser-straight.
Underneath, the car is as nice as it is on top. It's riding on 14"
Super Stock II wheels and new Firestone F70-14 wide oval red line
tires. The interior features Teal Blue vinyl bucket seats, a
console with Hurst shifter, and brand-new door panels, kick panels
and carpeting. All of the original gauges, lights, blinkers,
cigarette lighter and AM/FM radio function as they should. The
white vinyl power convertible top is wrinkle-free, goes up and down
quickly and precisely, and comes with a new factory-correct
convertible boot. The trunk has been restored as well with a new
Firestone F70-14 wide oval tire along with the correct jack
assembly, crowbar and labeling. Included in the sale are documents
verifying Paul Sr.'s ownership, the original owner's manual signed
by Paul Sr., 300-page 1968 Oldsmobile service manual and a complete
photo history of the restoration.
