1970 Pontiac Le Mans Sport, 4-Speed, 400ci with RAIII cam and HO Heads. Triple-black convertible.
Purchased in Aug 2011, and driven about 2,500 miles over the past 8 years.
American Racing wheels, BF Goodrich TA tires 1,000 miles ago - virtually new. Clutch redone approximately 2,000 miles ago. Front disk and rear drum brakes are good, emergency brake holds the car.
Replaced the front door panels, front arm rests, shifter boot, aluminum dash inserts, carpet throughout - 80/20 original loop blend with jute backing, sound deadener with heat shield throughout floor and doors. (I removed the entire interior, except the dashboard, to perform this work.)
New seat belts with shoulder harnesses front (auto retractable) and rear (manual). Boss 1200 Watt, 4 Channel, MOSFET amplifier (brand new) connects to the headphone jack on your phone or any device with a headphone jack. Pioneer component speakers have separate tweeters front and rear (tweeters are mounted higher - essential for convertibles).
Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold, Hooker headers, new fuel pump, new high torque starter motor, new brake master cylinder (has surface rust), new dual, oversized exhaust, new gas tank, BeCool oversized aluminum radiator (this car never overheats), many hoses are new, battery just replaced last month. Power steering. Hurst 4-speed shifter. No leaks, only a very little bit of slow seeping, typical for a car like this.
New rear bumper, all exterior chrome re-chromed, including the front bumper. Black paint is excellent, car was painted about 4 years ago (and always garaged or covered). Convertible top in excellent condition, motor runs with switch on dash but no longer moves the top, but the top can be easily moved up and down manually. Power windows all work, back ones are slow. Trunk release inside glove box works.

This car gets constant (constant) attention, comments, honks, waves, thumbs-ups, etc., more than any other classic car I've owned by far. This car can be driven daily, and I would drive it anywhere. Always starts, runs and drives great. Please see all the pictures and ask all questions. Selling as-is. Notes: Original seatbelts were lap belts only, so the aftermarket shoulder harnesses cannot be considered “safe”. I did use all original mounting locations, but I had to create new mounting points for the upper mounts of the shoulder harnesses. I did not install the cam and HO heads so I cannot absolutely verify. The actual mileage is unknown.
Fast, loud (not obnoxious) and fun. I will be sorry to see this car go. Please feel free to make a reasonable offer.
Not a GTO. The same car in many ways, and you could easily make this car a GTO "clone", but I would not do that. There are a ton of GTOs and GTO clones out there, but not very many of these left. You rarely see LeMans Sport convertibles. At any car show or 'cars and coffee', this car gets a lot more attention than the GTOs.
