Vehicle Description
1972 Chrysler Newport Royal
Why This Vehicle is Special:
When do you see a car, any car like the 1972 Chrysler Newport we
have for sale at Skyway Classics, that only has 28,175 original
miles, and that looks almost just like it did when it left the
showroom back in 1972?
Mechanical:
The Newport base engine was the new corporate 400 that it replaced
the 383 in our Newport compensating for lower compression ratios
and it still runs on regular gas. The 400 cu in (6.6 L) V8 has 225
hp, a 2-barrell carb, and sits in an all original looking engine
compartment with exhaust flowing out the rear dual exhausts.
All options you could want are on the Newport like power steering,
brakes, air, and more. It rolls down the road on factory wire wheel
hubcaps and whitewall tires. It also has a stock appearing detailed
trunk with factory mat and full size spare tire and jack.
Exterior:
For the 1972 model year all of the corporate C-bodies were
restyled, with new sheet metal and rooflines. The Newport coupes
gained a higher beltline, giving the cars a more tank-like profile;
the "loop" bumper had an eerie similarity to the 1971 Barracuda.
Tail lamps were made vertical and cut into the bumper.
Ours has a great dark brown paint job with a tan vinyl top and
displays great body line, crisp looking chrome and emblems and
great glass, rubber, trim, and has a great classic style.
Interior:
The all tan vinyl pattern bench seat with fold down console,
matching dash, door panels, rear bench seat, and headliner has dark
brown carpet and appears just like it did from the factory like
everything else on our Newport.
Conclusion:
This 1972 Chrysler Newport we have at Skyway Classics is as much of
a time capsule of a car that you will ever find. It brings back the
look and feel of the big car 70's era that a lot of you will
remember. Do not pass up the chance to experience this type of car
again.
