Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this stunning 1979 Pontiac TA which is in beautiful fully restored condition and priced to sell. Per the included PHS Report and Factory Build sheet this TA is a Factory 4 speed manual transmission TA with a Factory Pontiac 400 engine which is original to the car, see photos of vin stamp on block and "PWH" stamp on block. This Trans Am has been treated to some costly sought after performance upgrades and was dyno tested at 431 horse power and 472 Torque, see included dyno sheets. Over $10,000 in restoration receipts come with this Trans Am and some of them are photographed in the gallery. This TA is a factory Black car with Factory Carmine standard interior with red graphics and grey snowflake wheels. This TA is fully restored and features a nice repaint in Factory Starlight Black paint with excellent decals, a restored correct Carmine standard vinyl interior, the original Pontiac 400 engine, and PHS documents and Factory build sheet authenticating this special TA. This TA features several performance upgrades which are detailed below in the mechanical section of the ad. In summary the original engine was rebuilt to 431HP, the transmission was rebuilt, the rear end was rebuilt, and a performance clutch was installed. This TA is 1 of only 2485 ever produced with a Pontiac 400 engine and 4 speed manual transmission built in 1979 with a hard roof with no T Tops. This TA is finished in the highly desirable color combination of Starlight Black exterior over Carmine Red vinyl interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the included build sheet and PHS documents. These special low production 4 Speed Trans Am's are some of the most sought after collectible TA's on the market. They continue to increase in value and desirability.
The Black exterior is in beautiful fully restored condition. This Trans Am features a newer paint job with new correct red decals. The paint is in good condition and has a nice gloss and great shine. There are no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking paint. The underside is very solid and honest and rust free with no visible patches or repairs. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have good tread left and correctly sized 225/70/15 and the 8" factory WS6 snowflake wheels are OEM originals with powder coated painted grey surfaces and are in excellent condition with new center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping and window sweeps have been recently replaced and are like new. Door seals, shaker seal, trunk seal, and window sweeps are like new. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original jack and with an original style correct trunk mat. Also with newer 6x9 Polk speakers which sound great.
The Red standard vinyl interior of this Trans Am is in fully restored excellent overall condition. The seat covers are like new with no noticeable wear, no rips, or seam splits. These covers were recently replaced and the seat foams are new as well. The seat belts were replaced with matching carmine belts. The carpet was replaced as well and is like new with no major stains, rips, or holes. The dash is in good condition with no cracks, no warping, and no fading. The dash bezel is original and looks good in the car. The original am/fm cassette stereo is still in the car and works and sounds great. New Polk 6x9 speakers are in the factory position in the rear deck. Thankfully the dash has not been cut for a modern stereo. The door panels have been replaced and are in like new condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray have both been replaced and are like new with no wear. The sun visors have also been replaced. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the cigarette lighter and clock. The horn, stereo, wipers, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.
This Trans Am is in excellent mechanical condition with low miles of 90,181. Most importantly the original Pontiac W72 400 engine is still in the car with matching numbers. This TA has been treated to several performance upgrades and really enhances the performance of this rare Trans Am. The original engine was removed and rebuilt and stroked to 461 cubic inches. A new performance distributor was added with new spark plug wires and new spark plugs. A new aluminum performance radiator was recently added. A new correct brake booster was added with a new master cylinder. All new brake lines were also added with new brake hoses. A new fuel tank was added with new fuel lines and fuel hoses. The front suspension has been rebuilt and the steering pump and box has been replaced. This TA runs strong and pulls hard. The transmission was rebuilt as well and shifts well, and a new centerforce clutch was added. The rear end was also rebuilt with new 3.23 rear gears which are correct to the car. Sub frame connectors were also added to support the increased performance. The exhaust was recently replaced with Pypes exhaust which gives this TA a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. The emergency brake is currently not working. The performance of this TA is far superior to its stock counterparts but it still retains its mostly stock appearance. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, it rides well, and is always a joy to drive. The smiles, thumbs up, and attention you get driving this car is addictive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should and were recently serviced. Also, the engine is very clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory NON AC car which really cleans up the engine bay and enhances performance.
