Vehicle Description
This particular Mustang was always destined to be an extraordinary
car. After all, the 1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra was the debut of
new power-packed DOHC 4.6-liter V8, and featured a very exclusive
color only used to launch this special pony car. And to take it all
a step further, a supercharger has been added to turn this car all
the way up to 11.
The reason why this one can grab your attention so quickly is
because the original Mystic Clearcoat Metallic is a special
color-shifting paint that was only offered in '96. Ford
specifically announced only 2,000 examples before shutting the
books on this chameleon paint. And with so few miles on this car
(27,884 on the odometer, to be exact), you know the gloss it has in
the pictures is no accident. In fact, the only thing that shines
brighter are the special 17-inch SVT wheels. What is SVT? That's
Ford's Special Vehicle Team, and they are the ones responsible for
all the great design touches like the unique fascia, hood scoops,
and coiled snake badges, and they also engineered this coupe to
have the performance to back up its sporty image. Showing only
minor signs of age and kept completely stock sans a couple
removable decals that preview the potency inside, this is a Mustang
that's bound to turn heads at every car show.
There's a premium feeling on the inside, too. The SN-95 redesign
gave the Mustang a world-class cockpit, and the premium Cobra meant
a long list of comfort and convenience options. It starts with
those supremely comfortable black leather seats. The performance
buckets up front are deeply bolstered, which is a good idea
considering this car's performance, and although they do show some
minor signs of wear-and-tear, the leather is still in great shape.
A few choice billet accent pieces have been added inside, and
white-faced analog gauges including the two on the A-pillar, a
leather-wrapped wheel, and a Hurst five-speed stick with cue ball
shifter are all part of the performance package for the driver.
Plus, power windows, power locks, keyless entry, a key FOB that
controls the electric cut-outs, cruise control, an
AM/FM/cassette/CD stereo, and air conditioning will keep everyone
happy inside the comfortable cabin. Since this is a modern classic,
you also get to take advantage of features like dual airbags and
anti-lock brakes, added piece of mind when you're bending a corner
at redline. Out back the trunk is spacious and includes a rubber
prancing pony mat.
Since this car has been so preserved thus far, it should be no
surprise that it has its original performance-bred V8 under the
hood, although it has been kicked up a notch by way of a 10psi
ProCharger. This was the debut year for the DOHC 4.6-liter motor,
and it's 305 hp output really returned the Mustang Cobra to top-dog
status at the time, and the performance from the supercharger now
rivals it against modern performance vehicles. That supercharger
obviously required special cooling as well, so a ton of time and
effort was spent getting that dialed in so you can have all the fun
you want and still enjoy the cold A/C. Averaging less than 1,200
miles a year since new, this Cobra is barely broken in, and can
either be put up to preserve as an investment now, or enjoyed for
many years to come. Helping corral all this explosive performance
is the power steering, sway bars front (upgraded) & rear, a 4-link
suspension out back, and massive power four-wheel disc brakes.
Complete with the original window sticker and other Ford SVT
documents, this Cobra is the embodiment of a dream for a modern
Mustang collector. If that's you, don't let this once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity slip away, because these special cars don't pop up on
the market often. Call today!!!
