Vehicle Description
Character, pedigree, heritage, vintage, heirloom. Words like these
come to mind in the presence of a fine antique vehicle of this
caliber. It may even elicit an emotional response. This 1934 Ford
Flatbed may bring back memories, or simply attract admiration for
the loving way that it was restored and preserved. Ford's Flathead
V8, introduced only a couple years earlier, was one of the
carmaker's greatest achievements. It would go on to become a staple
of hot rodding and remains so today. No less a purveyor of
performance than Big Daddy Don Garlits has a collection of
Flatheads. This one is in its original configuration and drives a
four-speed manual transmission. Driving this beauty from the
correct bench seat is surprisingly comfortable. And you'll be proud
to be there. The truck looks superb with its red and black paint
and black interior. It's the result of many hours of painstaking
craftsmanship. The body was removed from the chassis and stripped
to bare metal. Then PPG base coat/clear coat paint was carefully
applied to provide a smooth finish with lots of shine. The bed is
beautiful red oak, and new glass completes the fresh look. The
original type 6-volt electric system remains intact with fresh, new
wiring. She starts and runs with aplomb. This truck undoubtedly
worked hard in its day. Now it's ready to be shown, driven,
coddled, and enjoyed.
