1951 REO M108 Crane Truck
This M108 Crane Truck has been in the same hands for nearly 15 years and was used by a local towing company until just a few years ago.
The owner claims she starts and runs, the tires all still hold air. Not sure I'd want to cruise along at this rig's top speed of 45mph with them beneath me though.
The engine is the original REO 336 Gold Comet gas engine. It has three Rockwell "top loader" axles and a 2.5 ton payload capacity.
The crane is operational but may need some tuning to get back to 100% functional. The truck comes with a Garwood (I believe) 20,000 lb winch up front and the crane is rated to be able to lift a full 8000 lbs.
The body is very solid with surface rust here and there. There are two areas of rot on the body.. the leading edges of both doors and the cab right next to the leading edge of each door. There is also one bed plate support that the lower boxed portion is gone.
This truck has the reinforced frame as noted by the "load bar" mounted on top of the rear springs.
This can be a really cool work/service truck or just a neat rig to cruise around in and of course, she could be restored and used in parades and such.
