Vehicle Description
1965 Ford Mustang Coupe
When introduced at the 1964 World's Fair, the Ford Mustang began
the era of the "pony car". Named not for its title "Mustang" but
for ushering in a class of American Muscle cars, that were
affordable sporty coupes with long hoods, and short rear decks.
Wildly popular, the Mustang design flew off the showroom floors.
Even today current models make use of the running horse emblem,
that has stayed with the car for 55 years.
For consignment a "parts all there and original" 1965 Mustang. With
plenty of patina on the paint, good chrome, clean untouched
interior, and running fine, this car could be driven right out the
Classic Auto Mall front door and enjoyed or taken and restored.
Either way it's all there!
Exterior
A heavy respray of Caspian Blue covers the panels of this car.
Orange peel texture abounds, however there is no rust, panels are
straight, and all chrome badging and brite-work on this car are
very good with no pitting or dulling. Standard clean Mustang wheel
covers are noted on all 4 corners.
Interior
Blue vinyl abounds interior-wise with door panels, seats, and dash
covered with it. All appears original and clean, certainly not
perfect, but no rips or tears on the buckets or back bench, slight
puckering on the driver's door panel where it meets the armrest,
but all the basics that this car was born with are still there.
Carpet is good, and is blue, and the white headliner shows some
wear with minor staining near the stitching for the panels, and a
tear near the rear window.
Drivetrain
Flipping the hood, we assume the engine is original, as it is the
correct engine the car was born with...that being a 289ci V8 with a
single 2-barrel carburetor and attached is a Ford 3.03 top loader
3-speed manual transmission. The engine bay is unrestored, and even
the original FoMoCo windshield washer bag is intact and
attached!
Undercarriage
The typical surface rust, however, frame appears solid. A heavy
coating of rustproofed covers the floorpans, and some of the frame,
and it appears structurally sound. Rockers show the same heavy
undercoating, and appear solid, and the bottom of the doors show no
rust whatsoever.
Unfortunately, not a lot is known about this car other than what
the eye can see. It runs, starts quickly, and appears to have all
its born-on attachments. A total package and a do what you want
with car, but you have a great start!
