Vehicle Description
1996 Jaguar XJ12 Sedan
After changing its name from the original Swift Sidecar and Coach
Building Company to Simply SS in 1934, the company's cars began to
become popular. Because of their worldwide popularity, and the
constant Nazi threat, the name was again changed in 1945 from SS to
Jaguar Cars to avoid any reference to the Nazi movement. And the
rest as they say is history!
For consignment a rare "King of the Road" Long Wheelbase (LWB)
saloon and the final year V12 and XJ12 production, we offer this
completely stock and original California, then Tennessee, then
Pennsylvania car.
Exterior
Nothing but British Racing Green to cover the exterior of this long
car. A quick gaze of the photos you will immediately see the rear
door is nearly twice the length of the front door. A definite
chauffeur driven car, all steel panels are rust free, and minding
their gaps. Chrome grille in quintessential oval Jaguar style
fronts a long bonnet with the running Jaguar hood ornament leading
the way. Bezel-less dual round headlights create the form for the
hood, and front fenders, and are very efficient aerodynamically, as
are the front bumpers which are affixed to the body of the car and
include a topping off of chrome. An oval door handle seemingly
inserted into the door, actuates it. Seen on top is a sunroof and
moving towards the large spacious boot we catch a glimpse of more
formed aero rear taillights and bumper. Standard finned aluminum
wheels are all around. Noting the interior of the trunk it has a
Jaguar brand multi disc changer, Harman Kardon amplifier, and miles
of clean felt lining.
Interior
A pop of the door and we are met with a tasteful mixture of
flawless burled wood veneers, Coffee padded leather, and Wilton
wool carpeting, and imbedded within these surfaces are all the
controls for the conveniences an individual would expect from a top
of the line luxury saloon. These include power windows, power
mirrors, power memory seating, climate control for front and rear,
speed control (cruise control in USA!), a kicking stereo system,
and sentinel exterior lighting. An automatic shift lever can be set
to sport or normal mode, and has a tiptronic, stick shift automatic
mode. In the ultra-spacious rear, we see plenty of extra leg room
courtesy those long doors and the LWB. Burl paneled trays pull down
form the back of the front buckets and provide you with a place for
your Scotch or Guinness. A felt headliner covers the roof and
sunroof and is immaculate and original.
Drivetrain
The original 6.0 Liter 313hp Jaguar V12 engine is backed by an
automatic 4L80E smooth shifting 4-speed transmission. It is
shoehorned within a pristine engine bay.
Undercarriage
Clean and green (literally some spray of British Racing Green) is
seen on an undercoated totally rust-free undercarriage. Perfectly
preserved rubber lined doors show not a trace of any corrosion
where they meet the rockers. Power disc brakes are noted on all 4
corners.
If you had the means this was the way to travel around, especially
in Europe with their unlimited speed limits, it would be like
having a small airplane without the inconvenience of going to an
airport, bag handling, etc. Here in the states it is a great way to
get around being driven to a meeting, or out to dinner, all in
ultimate comfort. This car is an original and great driver as well,
with plenty of performance to spare. Having a sit within this
incredible luxury and you too will be bitten by this "King of the
Road" Jaguar.
