Vehicle Description
Need a true go-anywhere 4x4 off-roader that's tough-as-nails? Or
maybe you just want to intimidate everyone in the commuter lanes?
Well. You can do it all in this 1987 AM General M998 Humvee that is
registered for road use and ready to roll today.
We don't have to tell you this is a military-grade vehicle. The
Humvee is an enduring icon as a hero's machine. But you can also
see that this one isn't fresh from the service. It has been
upgraded to a black paint that adds a little gloss, but also
continues this 4x4's rough-n-ready attitude. Providing a nice
contrast are the cream-colored doors and soft top. Plus, you also
have a removable bed cover/topper to decide if you want open or
protected cargo. Add in the big brush guard, full trailer hitch,
and bright LED lighting package, and this is both useful and
intimidating. While this was originally built for military duty, it
has already been previously registered for street use, which is
always exceptionally helpful when getting it ready for local
registration.
Inside, the pure function of a true Humvee meets with some nice
upgrades. This is a Rhino lined interior for added durability.
Plus, all four seats have been upgraded to high-back buckets. You
even have a full AM/FM Bluetooth stereo system that's mounted in a
cool modified ammo container. The canvas roof is fully removable,
which gives you the meanest convertible on or off the pavement. The
seats are a durable vinyl, and the full instrumentation was built
to be out in the elements, so the fun in this one begins where most
other 4x4s find their limit.
Tilt the hood forward to get an excellent view of the 6.2-liter
diesel. And because this is a variation of the motor that GM has
used for decades, parts availability will continue to be quite good
without having to set foot on a military base. Diesels are all
about torque, and so it makes for a powerful package. We won't
pretend you'll win any drag races, but that's never the point of
owning a Humvee. This is true 4x4 with a reinforced fully
independent suspension that has been built to drive over any
obstacle. The big brush guard up front means nothing gets in your
way, and the high all air intake means even deep water doesn't stop
you. Plus, with a three-speed automatic transmission, nice tread on
newer tires, and power four-wheel disc brakes, you don't have to be
made of granite to drive a vehicle built to bust through a wall of
it.
This is not a vehicle for the average commuter. But it's perfect
for everything from promoting your business to forging a new trail
to the hunting camp. We know your mind is racing with all the ways
to enjoy this Humvee, but remember, the only way you get to so all
of that is if you call today!
