For Sale: 1969 AMC AMX in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Just look at this honey! The factory colors are off the charts, redlines on chrome wheels are the cherry on top. Yes, it's a very clean car but it's striking good looks are what makes this one rise above the others. The last owner spent $5,000 recently getting the car dialed in from new brakes down to new bulbs. Receipts included.

AMC was in the business of building safe and economical cars. They really shook things up with the American Motors eXperimental aka AMX. A short wheelbase, 2 seater sports/muscle car. 3 power plants were available: 290, 343 or the big dog 390. This one is a genuine 390, 4-speed car with a posi.

EXTERIOR: The Regatta blue looks fantastic. Has a very glossy, mirror like reflection. Jambs are clean, new sill plates. It's even slick to the touch. The body is exceptional. Looked down both sides, it's super straight. Panels fit nice. Chrome bumpers and mirror were redone. The stainless trim was professionally polished like chrome. Original grill, headlight bezels, taillight bezels and lenses all look excellent. Glass is all crystal clear, 1 stone chip in the windshield. New chrome Magnum 500 wheels with new Diamond Back radial redline tires really make it pop.

INTERIOR: Very rare platinum interior. It is in excellent condition. Reclining bucket seats have correct reproduction upholstery, headrests are firm. Door panels are excellent originals. The entire dash area is in excellent condition. The woodgrain, bezels, knobs are mint. Has factory tachometer, original radio. Shows 74,760 miles that is claimed to be correct and it is very believable. The carpet which runs all the way up the back has been replaced. Has embroidered floormats. The headliner looks brand new. Has its original seatbelts. I opened the glove box and in the original plastic sleeve is the original owner's manual and service manual.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Has correct 390 motor with 315 hp and a tire shredding 415 lbs of torque. They featured forged steel crank and rods. It succesfully completed a compression test: 180-190 lbs per cylinder. Stock distributor was converted to electronic. Stock Carter AFB carb was rebuilt. The compartment is cleaned up very nicely. The motor was neatly painted the correct aqua color. Air cleaner is complete, has the AMX decal on top the, heat riser tube is complete to the manifold. The often discarded original smog equipment is all hooked up. Even the spark plug wires are run neatly in their correct clips. Has correct hoses, clamps, stickers, washer bag, battery hold down etc. The engine bay still has it's original factory blue paint in very nice condition. Bottom of hood has new insulation. Overall it's very clean, orderly compartment.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Collapsible spare on restored rim. Includes air bottle and jack. Blue paint under the mat is glossy. Also included in the trunk are 2 1969 license plates and a shop manual. New weatherstrip.

UNDERSIDE: We have receipt for new brakes, new e-brake cables, new hoses, new master cylinder. $1,300 was spent going through the front end. Has KYB gas shocks, it's aligned and ready. In back it has new shocks, springs and shackles. Has original Bog Warner close ratio 4-speed. The original tag codes end in V, of the three 4-speeds available the V series is the most desirable. Has new clutch. Solid Missouri car. Floors appear to be very clean, has a nice coat of semi gloss black. Great sounding exhaust with crossover pipe. Stainless steel Magnaflow mufflers. Has posi rear.

This car will give the new owner a great feeling. It will make your adrenaline rise when pushing that big block through the gears. It will make you proud when the compliments won't stop. It will boost your ego knowing you have something that others will wish they had!
