Vehicle Description
1953 Ford F-100 is far from your average pickup. Rather than stuff
a big motor into an old truck, this vehicle began from the ground
up with a Walden boxed steel chassis including Ford Mustang II
front suspension and Ford 9-inch rear suspension coupled via
quad-link and Panhard rod assembly. All 4 corners are coil-over
shocks with hydra-boost power assist disc brakes. Power comes from
a Ford 392 cu. in. stroker motor (crate motor) with port injection
via an Edelbrock Torker II manifold. March serpentine pulley system
also services the AC Compressor for the Vintage Air air
conditioning system. Coupling the 430 HP engine to the driveline is
a Hughes 2500 RPM Stall Convertor matched to a beefed-up Ford AOD
transmission. All engine electronics controlled by F.A.S.T. ECU.
Rear-end features Auburn posi with 3.25:1 ratio gears. Sanderson
headers connect to dual 30-inch stainless glass pack mufflers with
stainless piping all the way back to rear bumper. Wheels are Salt
Flat Specials by American Racing and measure 17x8 inches on all
corners. 20-gallon fuel tank mounted in rear of chassis behind back
axle with filler neck under the wood bed. Access to the fuel tank
is realized via a power assist device that rotates one of the
wooden bed slats up and out of the way. Chopped top and shaved
doors key fob activated door poppers, and an amazing paint job in
Ford Oxford White (code YZ). Tinted glass all around. Front-tilt
hood. Inside the sound-deadened and insulated cab is a SoCal AOD
floor shift and Dakota Digital dash setup. Power steering via
Ididit tilt column and Ford 2.5 turn lock-to-lock rack and pinion.
