Vehicle Description

The Ford Model T is perhaps one of the most influential vehicles of all time. Though Ransom E. Olds originally developed the automotive assembly line with the Curved Dash Oldsmobile, Henry Ford took what was already a good idea and streamlined it. Ford eventually cranked out over 15 million Model Ts over a nearly 20-year period from 1908-1927 making the Model T the second most mass-produced car of all time surpassed only by the Volkswagen Beetle. The Model T was available in several different layouts to suit the needs of any consumer, while maintaining an attainable price-point for buyers of average income. While the T underwent several minor and major changes over the years, the car remained almost the same for the entire length of production.

Contrary to popular belief, black was not the only color available for Model Ts. While there was a period in which most were finished in black to cut costs, they were available in a variety of colors during many years of production. While this shade of yellow is not an original T color, this 1915 model shows what personality can easily be added to these vehicles. For those unfamiliar, 1915 Model Ts would've come equipped with a wooden firewall as well as a brass radiator shell and other brass accessories such as the lamps mounted by the windshield. With the "Brass Era" coming to an end around 1915, this is the last year that these brass trimmings would've been factory stock. Models 1916 and newer had black painted radiator shells and lamps while Model Ts produced from 1923 onward were equipped with a sturdier firewall made of stamped steel. This example has been restored mostly era correct with few cosmetic changes. The bright yellow is an older repaint, but shows well and is sure to draw a crowd anywhere if the car itself doesn't catch viewers eyes! As Model Ts were intended to be fun and carefree automobiles, the bright paint along with the runabout body style make this T a friendly-looking in-town toy.

The interior, though there is not much of an interior in these cars, is appropriately finished in a period correct look with largely correct accessories. As any fun Model T should have, this car has the factory horn as well as two different hand-operated horns mounted on the driver's side. The convertible top is functional and in excellent condition. The trunk is small but would be perfect for small items such as groceries or driving gear. In factory configuration this car has both a high and low range gear, both of which are operated by the pedal furthest to the left. If you're familiar with Ts, you'll notice a large lever sticking out of the floor, which is a side-effect of the common period correct upgrade of a Ruckstell rear-end.

The Ruckstell rear-end is a sought after and preferred upgrade for these vehicles, as it essentially gives the car an even higher range so that the car can somewhat keep up with modern traffic. The two-speed planetary gearbox and original rear gearing is only good for about 30MPH, so without swapping to a Ruckstell it can be difficult to achieve much more than 45MPH with the upgraded gears available for an original rear. This T has been set up to be driven! A more modern distributor and coil setup has been added in lieu of the original "buzz coil" and timer configuration for more reliable and stronger spark. Though these cars were originally cooled using a thermosiphon system (similar to how coffee pots percolate), a water pump has also been added. The hood is fiberglass for ease of opening and removal, but the rest of the car is steel.

Overall, this T is in great condition for use as a weekend fun, parade, or local event vehicle. Everyone will know it is you when they see you! Between the bright paint, brass components, and whitewall tires, this is one Model T that really stands out in a crowd.
