Our seller liked it so much, he s owned it twice. With its
convertible body and supercharged V-8 engine, this Mustang offers
an ideal combination of cruising fun and high performance. The 2001
Mustang was part of the fourth generation of Mustangs built on an
updated version of the Fox platform that was built from 1993
through 2004. Initially, base cars were available with 3.8L V-6
engines and GTs got 5.0L V-8s, both were available with 4-speed
automatic or 5-speed manual transmissions. They had MacPherson
strut front suspensions and solid rear axles. In 1996, Ford
introduced the 4.6L Modular V-8 engine to the Mustang. Mustangs got
a new body design in 1999. The body lines were sharper, giving the
car a boxier look. To go with the new body, Mustang GTs got a 260
hp 4.6L V-8 engine. These were carried over to the 2001 model year.
The big news for 2001 was the special edition Bullitt model that
paid tribute to the 390 powered fastback Mustang featured in the
1986 movie Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen. *Hagerty, History of
