Vehicle Description
1992 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe
Chevrolet introduced the Camaro on June 28th, 1966, began making
them in August, and by September, the first cars were delivered to
the public. Ever since then, every Camaro built has had a singular
goal: beat the Mustang. It's the most intense and enduring
automotive rivalry in America, and arguably the world.
This early version midsize "hot hatch" with its greenhouse like
rear glass and rear deck, that opens to the rear of the car for
storage, or extra "stuff" is showing off in nice condition. With a
consigner stated 71K+ miles, it has been well taken care of over
its lifetime. A ready to go classic, turn the key and start
smiling.
Exterior
A closer look reveals a blend of more thoughtful details and stock
Camaro pieces that work in harmony to complete the look. The 1992
Camaro's had an especially aggressive fascia with a pointed nose
and deep-set dual headlights. With a front spoiler, some bolted on
rocker aero, a rear spoiler, all dressed in Dark Brite Teal this RS
model is straight and true. The original glass remains in place and
the removable roof panels still seal like new. Look down the side
and you'll find RS badges on the fenders while well-integrated
mirrors and flush door handles on the doors. Standard Camaro badged
5-spoke aluminum wheels are all around.
Interior
Open the doors and step into a car interior that could have only
come from the early 1990s. Designed to complement tastefully the
exuberant exterior, the space utilizes a gray tweed fabric that
covers the front buckets and rear bench. These show little signs of
wear and feel just as good as they did in 1992. From the driver's
seat, a 4-spoke padded steering wheel connects you to the chassis
through a tilt column while instrumentation is provided by a tidy
cluster with gauges that track all the usual suspects including
speed, revs, temperature, oil pressure, alternator output and fuel.
Around the gauges, a sculpted dash makes room for niceties such as
air conditioning and the impressive Delco-Bose AM/FM/cassette
stereo. Nice gray carpeting compliments the tweed, and floods the
floors with just a tidy bit of staining.
Drivetrain
A 305ci V8 with fuel injection is connected to a 700R4 4-speed
automatic transmission, which work together to provide plenty of
GO!
Undercarriage
Peer underneath this Camaro and you'll find a clean undercarriage
with some surface rust, which would be typical of a car that age
and those miles. Output spins down the driveshaft to a limited slip
performance axle, a 10" rear with 3.23 gears. Around the
drivetrain, the suspension remains in its stock configuration, and
we can see power discs upfront and power drums on the rear.
Mostly original, this car remains one of the more popular
generation styles of the Camaro, and it is still striving and some
years beating the Mustang!
