Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1973 BMW E9 3.0CS coupe.
This 3.0 is a three-owner car with 87,000 original miles; the car
has been in the personal collection of our managing partner, Nick
Huston, for nearly five years and is offered for sale publicly for
the first time since it was new.
A long-term North Carolina car, the second owner purchased it from
a friend in 1985 with around 70,000 miles. He added another 15,000
during his 25 year ownership. The current owner, Nick, has driven
it approximately 3,000 miles and used it for touring events and the
occasional show.
This is a largely unrestored "survivor" - it was repainted once in
the mid 1980s in correct Fjord Blue to a nice standard and the
leather and wood were refinished in the mid 2000s, but it retains
its original paint in the door jambs and engine compartment as well
as original trim, door cards, headliner, carpet and dash. This
coupe has never been taken apart or had any panels replaced and
remains in beautiful condition. It is not detailed to a concours
standard as it has been driven, but it certainly could be.
Service during the current ownership has included complete A/C
system overhaul, new factory exhaust, carburetor rebuild, tune up
items, electronic ignition and recent Michelin tires on factory
alloy wheels. It is completely stock except for Weber carburetors,
modern head unit, Nardi wheel, period Cibie headlights and a rotary
A/C compressor. A lovely car to drive, it has been on several
recent extended road trips including trips from Atlanta to Amelia
Island for the Concours d'Elegance and an appearance at "The
Vintage" in Asheville. The original, numbers-matching 3.0 liter M30
engine runs well and is mated to a four-speed manual transmission -
this has proven to be a reliable and easy-to-service combination.
Tools, good service records, matching spare, original keys and
several new spare parts are included.
