For sale is a 1971 Chevelle SS (VIN # 136371L100980) which was completely restomoded in 2008. Since, it has been driven just over 2,100 miles as a Sunday driver and to local car shows. Motor is balanced and blueprinted .030" over 454 with full Comp Cams mechanical roller valve train. Canfield aluminum rectangular port heads have been pocket ported and gasket matched with stainless steel valves and outfitted with TRE 1.7 roller rockers. Induction is via Edelbrock Victor Jr manifold with Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb. Cooling is via factory 4 row radiator and dual electric fans, 1x 16" S blade and 1x 10" S blade. Fuel delivered by internally regulated Holley Red electric pump pulling through a high volume filter. Ceramic coated headers feed 3" collectors which provide superior torque numbers and ground clearance, the mufflers are Super Turbo units from Walker.
Transmission is a TCI Turbo 400 with shift kit and Hughes deep pan and pick up, Hughes 3000 stall torque converter. A new T400 driveshaft yoke and hardened universal joints, B&M quarter stick shift and factory formed stainless steel cooling lines complete the package. On the rear end is a factory 12-bolt and anti-sway bar outfitted with Auburn Pro positraction center section and Richmond 3:50 gear set. Added strength comes from a billet differential cover with bearing cap tensioners. The rear control arms are boxed and outfitted with polygraphite bushings.
The body is straight and the paint is near perfect. During restoration, any minor rust was surgically removed and new steel welded in prior to etch primer. New Goodmark hood, right front fender, trunk and quarter panels. Interior floor surfaces were prepared with POR 15 and covered in Dyna Mat. Additional foil heat shield was placed above the headliner. All glass was replaced with new factory PPG cool tint. The front windshield has factory radio antenna. All weather strip, bumpers, grommets and window fuzzies were replaced as well. The two-step paint job, color is Honda Sunlit Orange Pearl, looks as good as the day it came out of the booth. The interior color is a '68-'70 Light Saddle, every article of upholstery is new. New door and window cranks and all interior mechanisms were rebuilt or replaced where needed. The dash is a Covens SS gauge package with attometer mechanical gauges. All under dash or cowl insulation was replaced as well as the firewall blanket and steering shroud. Every bulb and socket on the car has been replaced or renewed. The steering wheel is a mahogany Grant Collector's Series and a shift knob was fabricated to match the wheel. All exterior chrome and grill work is new, including a smoothie style rear bumper (no bumper bolts or jack hole showing). The center console (not installed) is on-hand for future installation.
Rolling on 17" American Torque Thrust II wheels with 225-50-17 Nitto Extreme Radials on the front and 295-40-17's on the rear. Equipped with power steering and front power disk brakes, she handles like a dream and is ready for the street or the track. No need for A/C or a radio, as the clean design, rumble of the motor and the "Oohs and Aahs" of on-lookers, and the wind blowing with the windows down are more than enough to keep you looking and feeling cool.
