Vehicle Description
1996 Ferrari F355 Spyder
The Ferrari F355 (Type F129) is a sports car manufactured by
Italian car manufacturer Ferrari and produced from May 1994 to
1999. The car is a heavily revised Ferrari 348 with notable
exterior and performance changes. Design emphasis for the F355 was
placed on significantly improved performance, as well as
drivability across a wider range of speeds and in different
environments (such as low-speed city traffic.)
The F355 Spider, which debuted in 1995, with its Pininfarina-penned
lines honed by 1,800 hours in the wind tunnel, resulted in a blend
of elegant style and aerodynamic performance. For the first time on
a Ferrari automobile, the semi-automatic soft-top was powered
electronically. Initially, the Spider was offered only with the
6-speed manual transmission. Here for consignment we have a
second-year model.
Exterior
Giallo Modena aka Ferrari Yellow drape the beautifully designed
exterior aerodynamic panels of this exotic car. From its slippery
hidden headlight front, back to its windswept windscreen to the
engine venting on the rear quarters to the iconic round taillights
that just say Ferrari, this car presents beautifully. The black
canvas convertible top is in mint condition and raises and lowers
with little effort. Yellow dancing horse the icon of the Italian
Scuderia hand built supercar, adorns the car with yellow badging.
Also noted is the Challenge package , which includes an open grille
for enhanced oil cooling, and brake cooling.
Interior
A mixture of fine hand stitched leathers, and awesome technology
make up the cockpit where we see electronic controls for windows,
top, mirrors, temperature, door locks, and exterior lighting. A
chromed grated shift pattern and ball on lever sits within
ergonomic reach of the pilot. An AM/FM/CD player and various gauges
to keep track of the essentials are laid out in front of the
driver. (2) Leather covered buckets grab driver and passenger, and
keep them safe at high speeds, while all the while minding comfort.
Slight wear on the driver's lower back bolster is noted. Black
carpet with yellow embroidered "Ferrari" logos in the floor mats
are seen.
Drivetrain
A mid engined 3.5 Liter 5V/Cylinder fuel injected V8 midway mounted
into the car for weight balance, and attached a 6-speed manual
transmission, and you are ready to make some noise, that is found
recognizably melodious to only those who are a Ferrari aficionado.
Very recently performed was an engine out $16,000.00 service, and
an all fluid flush, oil, cooling, brake fluids, etc all fresh.
Included in this major service, was replacement of cooling fans on
both sides- 4 fans total. Lastly a 40 point safety check was
performed and all items passed this test.
Undercarriage
As expected for a 1996 model car, some patina and wear, but mostly
covered in smooth metal for aerodynamic downforce and ground
effects. Independent suspension, and disc brakes are all
around.
For an individual who has a perchance to get into an exotic car,
and experience some of its technical aspects it has to offer, as
well as the power of a hand built engine, and wants to surround
yourself with some luxury, this is a great entry level car, in very
nice condition. Extensive service records are neatly bound for the
history of this car... and it is a convertible, all be it a fast
one!
