1973 Volkswagen *VW* Thing has 68xxx miles, but TMU. It is very
solid and appears to not have any rust at all. I would speculate
that this has been a southern car all its life. The floor pans are
solid, the headlights are solid and the wheel wells all show clean.
Floor of the trunk is original and also does not have any material
rust issues (see pic). The carpet is meant for the Things and when
I pull it up, the floor is solid and paint fresh. There isn't any
appreciable overspray, so I assume they took it apart when it was
painted. Was told that it was painted 2 owners ago. It isn't
perfect or show quality but looks good and appears to be original
color. The heater is there, and I am told works. The gauges and
lights all work as intended. The gaskets are fresh and all there.
The seat covers appear original and the seat padding is probably
likewise. The back seats fold easily and the hardware to do so and
support them is there and functions as expected. Doors open and
close well the drivers door sticks slightly. The key works both the
ignition and the door locks. The side windows are all removable and
are plexiglass. Engine may or may not be original, and starts and
runs nicely. It does not smoke, but prefers to be warm. Drives
straight and true and will do 70 on the highway without any
complaining. Some needed things: rebuilt the carb, replaced the tie
rods, balanced the tires (also good) and replaced the gas tank with
a brand new one and all new rubber to go with it. New 3 year
battery and a weather proof car cover are both new as well. It has
seatbelts in a box that will go with the car. Please Note The
