Vehicle Description
Many enthusiasts believe that the ultimate hotrod is a pro-built
Willys Coupe. They've got the style, the looks, and definitely the
street cred to bring any car show to its knees. With a performance
V8, four-wheel discs, huge rear tires, a luxury interior, and
beautiful bright body - this is an all-eyes-on-me street rod that's
out to collect some pink slips.
You already know the iconic presence the right Willys rod brings to
the show, and with just one look you instantly know this is that
kind of machine. The powder blue finish might look like a high-end
paint job to the naked eye, but upon closer examination you'll see
that this Willys has actually not been painted at all. That's
right, when the pros at Jim's Hot Rods were building this beast,
they thought the fiberglass mold was a work of art in-and-of itself
with tremendous curb appeal, so they mated the fiberglass body
together, polished the panels up, and stepped back and called it a
day. We think it looks great as-is, and worst-case, the next owner
has an open canvas with which to work. And because this is a
high-quality fiberglass body, the hallmark big round fenders are
still pronounced beautifully and the usual full-length body crease
acts as a design accent of demarcation. In fact, this is a very
smooth machine, so that means no badges, door hinges, or excess
trim, just door handles and mirrors. And this sleek modern take on
the body means the areas of brightwork are especially noticeable on
the teardrop headlights, razor grille, and polished 15-inch
wheels.
When you pop open those big doors, don't forget to notice that the
bright blue continues in the door jambs, dash, and middle console -
another sign of an upper-echelon build that provides a true uniform
feeling inside and out. Step inside and quickly sense that this
coupe is a very comfortable place to conduct some speedy business
in. The custom blue-and-black bucket seats coordinate with the
interior and nestle neatly on either side of that custom console,
providing more than enough room for a taller driver and passenger.
A slick billet steering wheel rests atop a chrome tilt column, and
a full set of white-face gauges sit prominently in the driver's
purview. The Lokar shifter selects gears with ease, and options
like power windows, a power trunk, and a Vintage HVAC system are
welcomed, if not rather rare, sightings inside the cabin of a
Willys hotrod. Door panels are finished to match the seats, and
plush black carpets line the floors and trunk area for a truly
finished look.
We suggest grabbing some sunglasses before inspecting the engine
bay, because it's all been dressed to sparkle in the sunshine. And
the smooth blue firewall only amplifies this. Beneath this style
and presentation, you're going to find a whole lot of substance by
way of the Markams Racing Engines built small block Chevy V8 that
powers this Willys. This performance motor features a FiTech fuel
injection system, a Weiand intake, and a large Competition cam and
lifters all working in concert to maximize the horsepower from the
engine block. Plus, the headers add even more power as they
contribute to the rumble of the 2.5" inch dual exhaust. This is a
total performance package, and so you have a TH350 three-speed
transmission with a 2,500 RPM stall to keep you in the optimal
powerband. Making sure all that unbridled power stays planted to
the ground is an expertly fitted and back-halved S-10 frame,
tubular A-arms, power rack-and-pinion steering, and rear coilovers,
just to name a few. And while this is a street-eating package,
stopping prowess wasn't neglected with the addition of Wilwood
power 4-wheel discs. There's much more to this professional build,
but in this limited space we can only go over a few of the
highlights, so give us a call and we'll happily fill in the
details.
