Vehicle Description
If you're a truck fan, you literally have thousands of choices. You
can choose something like everyone else, or you can go a little off
the beaten path with this 1966 Ford F100 Custom Cab. This is one of
those trucks that gets things right, from the burly 428 V8 under
the hood, to the shiny turquoise paint, and to the comfortable
cruising this beauty provides.
First of all, this truck looks great. The regular cab/short bed
combination was rather rare back in the day, but it remains the one
to own if you're looking for a fun truck instead of a work truck.
Ford took a conservative path with their trucks, but between the
shiny paint and some well-chosen trim and brightwork, it has a very
detailed look. The paint color is actually quite rare, known as
Caribbean Turquoise, it could only be ordered by the owner of the
dealership, so there aren't many out there like it. It's been
refinished nicely and still looks very good, not perfect, but nice
enough to get appreciative second-glances on the road and show
proudly on weekends. The '66 grille dresses it up and experts will
appreciate the custom look, and that long strip of stainless
running down the side gives it a sporty look. The bed shows off
it's still original paint which proves it was surely treated with
care all its life. There is a rubber mat on the floor and a tonneau
cover on top for added privacy/protection, and shiny bumpers at
both ends remind you that this isn't just some work truck, but
rather something that's still quite special.
That black and turquoise interior is simple enough to stay in-era,
yet comfortable enough for extended stays in the cab, and it
perfectly complements the exterior of this truck. The original
black bench seat has been recovered and keeps an OEM look but
elevates this truck above its siblings and is quite comfortable on
long-distance cruises. Matching door panels, a padded dash, new
carpets, and a clean headliner all contribute to the fresh feel,
and surprisingly, the interior paint remains factory original as
are all the windows save for the windshield. The original factory
centered all-in-one gauge with a beautifully machined instrument
panel provide a full readout of the big block's condition, and
thanks to an intuitively designed original steering wheel, it's all
very easy to see. That Limited Edition center console you see under
the dash was only available as a dealer add-on and is exceedingly
rare! It houses a Cobra 21 PA system, AM/FM/Cassette player, and
speakers on each side. How cool is that?!
With a big 428 cubic inch V8 Police Interceptor under the hood of
this relatively lightweight pickup, performance is extremely
impressive. Whether it's blasting from red light to red light or
hitting the road for a cross-country trip, the powertrain in this
truck delivers. A Holley carb and stock-style intake handle the air
and fuel while stock headers and a pair of Glasspack-style give it
a fantastic muscle car exhaust note. Against that shiny black paint
of the inner fenders, the chrome air cleaner and valve covers look
great and even with all that big block in there, service access is
excellent. A gigantic aluminum radiator keeps the big motor cool at
all times, Twin I-Beam suspension makes for great highway cruising
and the power steering helps move the body around with ease while
the rugged 9-inch rear end handles the mountain of torque the
engine cranks out. Handsome 15-inch Ion aluminum wheels lend the
truck a sporty demeanor and are fitted with beefy 255/60/15 front
and 275/60/15 rear Cooper Cobra radials that fill the wheel wells
perfectly.
Not like all the others, this F100 Custom Cab is a really nice
truck that'll surprise more than a few performance car owners and
is still happy to put in a hard day's work. Call today!
