1999 Ford Mustang Convertible
A redesigned SN-95 Mustang came on December 26, 1998 for the 1999
model year with production starting in November 1998.
Characterizing the redesign was Ford's New Edge design language,
which featured sharper contours, larger wheel arches, and creases
in the bodywork, replacing many of the soft lines of the previous
model. The Mustang also received new wheels and hubcaps. However,
the car carried over the same roof line and interior, in addition
to the same basic platform. All 1999 Mustangs (except the Cobra)
received "35th-Anniversary" badges on the front fenders.
A 35th Anniversary Edition Convertible with 67,500 actual miles,
and a 1-owner car. All maintenance records are available with this
car, as well as the original window sticker.
Exterior
With the limited anniversary package of a hood scoop, special rear
spoiler, unique rocker moldings, and a hood stripe, this car
presents nicely in its 35th Anniversary glory. All covered in black
2 stage, resprayed in 2016, and add in a new canvas top, new
lights, and we are out the door in a flash. Oh wait! Before we take
off, throw on some American Racing Torq Thrust Anthracite wheels,
wrapped with fresh BF Goodrich rubber, now we can successfully
launch!
Interior
Custom embroidered bucket seats in two tone silver tuck and roll
and black bolsters made from leather and vinyl, sit in the
passenger compartment. Behind them is a 2+2 bench seat with the
same configuration as the buckets. Power locks, windows and mirrors
are seen on the door panels, and a nice light gray field holds a
dark faced cluster of instruments. An aftermarket AM/FM/CD player
is installed, and we note air conditioning, and steering mounted
cruise controls. As for the stereo we have some steroids attached
in the form of ADS speakers, and Precision Power Amps which reside
in the trunk. Blast those tunes, we have to cover the sound of the
engine!
Drivetrain
KISS (keep it simple stupid), does not apply here with numerous
pipes, tubes and connections all working together on the 4.6 Liter
SOHC V8. This amalgamation is electronically fuel injected and is
attached to a 5-speed manual transmission. Add some 93 octane go
juice and we just flew out the garage door.
Undercarriage
Nicely kept, with no real remarkable remarks to be made. We do see
independent front suspension, and 4 link on the rear, power disc
brakes on all 4 corners, and an 8.8" 3.27 rear. Last but not least
the dual exhaust which can also be music to your ears...if you turn
the stereo down.
