Racing betters the breed, or so the old mantra goes. If any car
ever proved this to be true, it was the Camaro Z/28. The Z/28 was a
special production option that homologated all the parts GM needed
to go racing and win in the SCCA Trans Am series. And with the
likes of Mark Donahue and Roger Penske on board, the Camaro was
sure to win on Sunday and sell on Monday! The 69' Z/28 you see here
is finished in a gorgeous deep shade known as Fathom Green with
white racing stripes. All the Z/28 specific equipment is there,
including the front spoiler, functional cowl induction hood, and
rear duck tail spoiler. The Chevrolet rallye wheels with chrome
trim rings and white letter tires add to the racy character. In the
interior you'll find lots of factory options that befit a car of
this caliber. The wood rimmed steering wheel not only looks great,
but feels great in your hands. The optional center console is
finished in matching wood trim, giving this bruiser an upscale
appeal. The chrome Hurst shifter falls right to hand, and the
optional console gauge package allows you to keep an eye on the
important stuff with just a glance. The factory tachometer in the
instrument cluster helps you to keep the RPM's under control while
you're snatching gears. The interior is upholstered with vinyl
buckets in the original green that so nicely compliments the
exterior color, and a factory look upgraded AM/FM radio is there to
play your favorite classic tunes. Under the hood is a DZ302CI V-8
with 290 horsepower. This strong running mill loves to rev, and
feels much more powerful than the numbers would suggest. All those
ponies travel through a four speed close ratio manual transmission
and onto a stout 12 bolt rear axle with 4:10 gears and
Positraction. The brakes were top of the line in the day, with
power discs up front and drums in the rear. Suspension is Z/28
specific, with higher rate springs, and larger sway bars to make
this Camaro corner like a proper sports car. This Camaro has been
meticulously restored and is believed to be numbers matching. There
is not a scratch to be found on the outside, and it runs, turns,
and stops every bit as good as it looks. The value of 69' Camaros
continues to climb, and the Z/28 is the top dog of the Camaro
lineup. Don't let this investment grade classic pass you by, stop
