For Sale: 1974 Chevrolet C10 in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

I bought this nice truck from a friend and long-time customer.  He purchased it a few years ago in Mississippi.  Like all of his vehicles, he enjoys improving them and driving them.  At some point, he decides to move on.  This is the fifth vehicle I have either purchased or traded with him.  Obviously I am satisfied with what he offers me.

I liked this truck because it is an early square-body, the last with the sunken grill.  It is a stepside/longbox and is the last with the round tail lights that are mounted on their own stands.  This truck still has a wooden bed floor.  The Grecian Bronze color makes it even more unique.  The mileage is less than 70,000, so that is a plus for all of us.

As with many trucks of this era, it was born with a six cylinder and manual transmission.  The original 250 resides in the engine bay.  It has been upgraded with new electronic ignition.  The belts and hoses are new.  The radiator is new, as is the clutch fan.  The carburetor is rebuilt.

The original three speed transmission was replaced with a Muncie M22 four speed.  It is certainly hardy enough to handle anything the six cylinder will dish out.  Perhaps a V8 transplant will occur.  It will handle anything you install.  When the transmission was installed, the clutch was replaced.  To make it all nice and clean, the steering column was also replaced with an era correct tilt column that is without shifter provision.

This truck came with front disc brakes.  All brakes were recently rebuilt.  It also came with power steering.  An era correct AM/FM radio was sourced to replace the original AM.

New exhaust was installed.  The tires have just a few hundred miles on.  This truck is ready to be enjoyed and used to haul.

There is a bit of corrosion, but it is mostly surface rust.  There is no rot.  The cab corners, mounts, floors and braces are all solid.  Much of the paint is original, but I can see where some panels were repainted.  The bed wood is original and solid.

The interior is fairly spartan.  This truck was born with a rubber floor mat and vinyl seat covering.  The original seat cover is in place with some wear showing on the driver’s side.  It has been covered with an aftermarket cover.  The floor covering is still rubber.

All features work properly.  The doors lock with the key.  There is a spare and jack in the original location.

You won’t find too many that have this look.  The style, the color, the originality are all to my liking.  I hope you like it too.
