Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1978 Jeep 4x4 truck. This
has to be one of the most highly documented and well preserved Jeep
J-series trucks in existence. This J10 was purchased new from
Baldwin-Hayward AMC/Jeep in Gainesville, Florida at a cost of
$9,022. It spent a few years in Jacksonville until the owner moved
to North Georgia in the early 1980s. It was a one-owner truck from
new until early 2019 and it retains extensive records dating to
new, original window sticker, owners manual and sales invoice.
Remarkably, the paint and interior are original - it's finished in
two-tone sable brown metallic and tan with a beige "Levi" interior.
The paint and body have a few small dings and a light patina but
it's clear that this truck has been well kept over its 41 years on
the road. The interior is nice with original upholstery, door
panels, headliner and dash. The floor covering was recently
replaced.
This is a highly-optioned truck with a 360 cubic inch V8, 4-speed
floor shift manual, Trac-lok differential, power steering, power
brakes, tinted glass, heavy duty cooling, heavy duty charging, air
conditioning and custom package. The owner had the dealer install a
sliding rear window at the time of sale. In 1981 the owner had the
axles swapped for 3/4 ton J20 units and changed the fender badges
at that time.
It has been fastidiously maintained throughout its life and most
components have been replaced or rebuilt over the years.
Documentation shows that early in its life a spare tire replacement
auxiliary tank was installed along with a front winch bumper. More
recently headers and an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor were
fitted, but it's otherwise stock. It runs and drives well and the
A/C is working. A true survivor example of a relatively rare truck
with amazing history and documentation.
