Vehicle Description
1970 Oldsmobile Delta 88
Delta has zero to do with Olds using the Greek alphabet. 88 comes
from Olds manner of designating series. Or, model types up in line
up. There use to be a model 76 and 78 Meaning 7th type 6 or 8
cylinder...Olds brought out new bodies in 1949 and replaced the
type 78 with the 88. In the 50's Olds leaned their model names to
aircraft or space age. Which brought the Rocket V8, Futuramic 88,
Holiday 88, Jetstar 88, Dynamic 88, Super 88, Delmont 88 and the
one you know, the Delta 88. Named more for the delta wing of
advanced aircraft than anything. Like the SR71, B70 Valkyrie, F102,
XF92, B58 and SciFi ships.
For consignment a Delta 88 Convertible, with a respray and a new
convertible top. Mostly original as per the factory build sheet,
this car runs smoothly, and shifts consistently.

of this car. Paint is in fair condition, as there appears to be
some overspray, inclusions and a slight areas of orange peel. The
white convertible canvas top is in good condition and is clean and
operational. Gaps and panels are mostly straight and true, and
there appears to be some areas of rust repair which has been
remedied. Original Olds wheel covers emblazoned with the Delta logo
are seen on all 4 corners of the car.
Interior
Original to 1970, some patina black stitched paneled vinyl benches
stretch across the front and back of the passenger compartment.
Sewn on buttons are seen within the pattens. The benches are
fronted by an original dash in good condition. Black and padded
vinyl with some burl wood accents are in fair to good condition.
Black carpeting covers the floor and appears to be clean. The door
panels are in good condition, clean and no rips or tears in the
vinyl.

condition sits in the original engine bay. some surface rust,
patina, and dirt are noted on this original engine. A TH400
transmission which is a 3-speed is attached.
Undercarriage
Independent front suspension, and 4-link rear suspension are noted,
and have surface rust and show typical wear and dirt accumulation
for a 1970's car. Surface rust is seen within some of the fenders;
however, it presents no structural or invasive rust problems. Frame
is strong and sturdy.
An original car which has undergone some upgrades but not an
excellent car. Certainly, mechanically and body wise sound, a used
